Senate Democrats’ main super PAC says it’s planning to spend more than $4 million in television ads to boost Warnock. But McConnell endorsed Walker in the primary, after which Democrats unloaded on the Republican nominee in a brutal ad campaign. The Dec. 6 Georgia runoff between Walker and Warnock won’t decide the balance of power in the Senate, now that Democrats are assured control. After Republicans failed to win control of the Senate this week, top McConnell and Scott allies pointed fingers. Roberts, who retired after the 2020 election, said McConnell and Scott must set aside their differences to win Georgia.
Sunset for Trump and His Foes?

Also because many of the things Trumpists legitimately complain about aren’t illegal and don’t amount to vote fraud. CIA veterans and the media lying about the authenticity of the Hunter Biden laptop isn’t vote fraud. State voting rules being changed through dubious procedures isn’t vote fraud and doesn’t invalidate votes cast in good faith. The appeal of “rigged” to Donald Trump is obvious—it lets him continue to command the airwaves rather than concede and disappear as losing candidates usually do. Oh wait I wrote these words in 2016 when he was losing to Hillary Clinton .
Sen. Rick Scott is challenging Mitch McConnell to become the top Senate Republican. Scott's challenge comes as former President Donald Trump and some Senate Republicans blame McConnell for a lackluster midterm election. As Politico broke the news of Scott's challenge, McConnell's allies lashed out. As the leader of Senate Republicans' campaign arm, Scott played a key role in shaping his party's strategy. Unlike McConnell, Scott did not want the GOP to aggressively intervene in contested primaries, which led to Trump-backed challengers like Dr. Mehmet Oz and Don Bolduc emerging in key races in Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, respectively.
YouTuber David Dobrik’s restaurant, Doughbrik’s, would open its doors at 1 p.m. Saturday. The family knew its early arrival would guarantee them a prime spot in line, a slice of pizza and most important: a Dobrik sighting. The lull in content follows a string of controversies entangling Dobrik since he filed for the Doughbrik’s trademark in 2020. Dozens of people flocked around the entrance to the restaurant on Saturday, where Dobrik was posing for photos with fans who braved the line. The restaurant, he wrote, "sold out of pizza" its opening day.
This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Bianca D'Alessio, a broker for Nest Seekers International and castmember of 'Selling the Hamptons.' Across the market, different price points are responding differently. When you're a renter, you're paying someone else's mortgage; when you own, you're paying yours. Once they've identified them, we can move forward in having a conversation of what's possible in different areas and at different price points. At different price points, different inventory types, and in different cities, we're going to feel different adjustments.

About an hour southeast of the Trinity Site, I reached Three Rivers Petroglyph site, the largest rock art site in the Southwest. Is Now a Bad Time to Retire?

Retiring during a market downturn and soaring inflation can feel like sailing into the wind instead of the sunset. The market’s performance in the first few years of retirement can have a big impact on how long a nest egg lasts, partly because losses take a bigger bite out of a portfolio when it is typically at its largest, advisers and economists say.
Rescue boats search the Machchu river where the pedestrian bridge collapsed on Sunday. Friends have lost friends and parents have lost children. By the time rescuers pulled Naseema to safety, the river had consumed every other family member who had been on the bridge that evening. He said that like many others, his daughter and son were excited to visit the bridge and watch the sunset. Crestfallen and anxious, he rushed to a nearby hospital where he saw his two children lying dead on stretchers.

WASHINGTON, Nov 1 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden will visit Florida on Tuesday, seven days ahead of U.S. midterm elections, to contrast Democratic healthcare plans to those of Republicans while taking on potential 2024 rival Ron DeSantis during a campaign event. In his first political event in a state he lost in 2020, Biden is expected to take aim at Florida Republican Governor DeSantis during a campaign event for Democratic candidate for governor Charlie Crist, and then attend a fundraiser. The president is expected to offer his most sharply targeted attack yet on DeSantis, administration officials told Reuters. Biden and DeSantis have clashed over multiple issues including COVID-19 vaccines, abortion and LGBT rights. Biden met DeSantis last month during a trip to the state to assess devastation from Hurricane Ian.

Zuckerberg motivates supervoting stock resistance

NEW YORK, Oct 27 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Mark Zuckerberg is providing fresh motivation for investors everywhere. If there was ever a time for shareholders to rally against the sort of dual-class structures that surrender control to entrepreneurs, Zuckerberg has provided the ammunition. At the time of the stock sale, Zuckerberg commanded 57% of the vote with just a 28% economic stake, subjugating other owners with supervoting shares that carry 10 votes apiece. Meta reckons its board is sufficiently independent to keep watch over Zuckerberg, despite his codified influence over it. Rejecting supervoting stock would be the best option.

The deal is the latest narrowbody order for Boeing this year and underscores strong demand for the jets as airlines tap into a resurgence in travel. Alaska said it could operate over 250 new 737 MAX jets by 2030.

Centering on Julia Roberts and George Clooney, two great, aging stars of rom-coms past, “Ticket to Paradise” was always going to be a throwback. Clooney and Roberts play David and Georgia Cotton, a long-divorced couple. The divorced couple who reconcile is an old rom-com trope. Even young gorgeous individuals in a tropical paradise aren’t as effortlessly, gracefully charming as George Clooney and Julia Roberts batting putdowns back and forth. That’s ultimately also the biggest similarity between the two generations of rom-com love.

Brent crude futures fell 3 cents to settle at $92.38 a barrel. read moreThe U.S. dollar index pared losses after the comments, weighing on oil prices. A stronger dollar reduces demand for oil by making the fuel more expensive for buyers using other currencies. "Harker is saying that the war on inflation has just begun," said Phil Flynn, analyst at Price Futures Group in Chicago. The announcement, however failed to ease oil prices, as official U.S. data showed that the SPR last week dropped to their lowest since mid-1984, while commercial oil stocks fell unexpectedly.

REUTERS/Nick Oxford/File PhotoSINGAPORE, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Oil prices were mixed on Thursday as investors balanced caution over tightening supply against concerns that a global slowdown could curb demand. "Oil prices are being whipsawed by a number of drivers in Q4 2022," said Commonwealth Bank commodities analyst Vivek Dhar in a note. Upward pressure though is coming from OPEC+ supply cuts and imminent EU sanctions on seaborne imports of Russian oil and refined production." Global recession concerns and the potential for another aggressive U.S. rate hike were clouding the outlook for oil prices, said CMC Markets analyst Leon Li. "Therefore, oil prices would return to a downtrend after a short-term rebound," he said.
