The new rules, which the Education Department released in April, disallow discrimination or harassment of students based on their gender identity, enshrining stronger protections for transgender students. Emerging nations are contending with a staggering $29 trillion in public debt. Fifteen countries are spending more on interest payments than they do on education, according to a new report from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development; 46 spend more on debt payments than they do on health care. Unmanageable debts have been a recurring feature of the modern global economy, but the current wave may well be the worst so far. Overall, government debt worldwide is four times higher than what it was in 2000.

But loan servicers have been instructed to pause payments in July for some borrowers enrolled in the SAVE plan while their new monthly payments are calculated and their accounts updated. Loan servicers have begun notifying the affected borrowers who will not need to make payments in July. The July payment is entirely skipped and borrowers won't need to make additional payments in August, the ED spokesperson confirmed. The 4.6 million borrowers who qualify for $0 monthly payments on the SAVE plan will not need to go into forbearance, the department said.

London CNN —Investors are snapping up the shares of a British maker of tiny computers after it went public on the London Stock Exchange Tuesday. Raspberry Pi stock soared as much as 40% in early trade before paring those gains slightly by 11.54 a.m. The Cambridge-based company started life in 2012 as a commercial subsidiary of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, a charity founded four years earlier to promote computer science in schools. To date, Raspberry Pi has sold more than 60 million computers worldwide, according to its website. Raspberry Pi plans to invest the funds raised in developing its products and expanding its educational activities.
