A January LendingTree report found that single women who live by themselves are more likely than single men who live by themselves to own a home in 47 of 50 U.S. states. The study also found that single women own 2.71 million more homes than single men, or an average of 12.93% of homes across the 50 states versus 10.22%. 15.34% of owner-occupied households in the state are owned by single women, while the share of households owned by single men is 9.45%. Delaware has the largest share of single women homeowners, according to a recent LendingTree report. Households owned and occupied by single men is 12.74% while its 10.66% for single women.

CNN —Tardigrades, also known as water bears, commonly survive in some of Earth’s most challenging environments. Under stress in extreme cold or other harsh environmental conditions, tardigrades’ bodies produce unstable free radicals of oxygen and an unpaired electron, aka a reactive oxygen species that can wreak havoc on the body’s proteins and DNA if they overaccumulate. The survival mechanism kicks off when cysteines, one of the amino acids that forms proteins in the body, come into contact with these oxygen free radicals and becomes oxidized, the researchers found. The free radicals become, so to speak, the hammer used to smash the glass on a fire alarm. “We came up with this idea (that) maybe it’s those species that are actually signaling to the tardigrades to enter their tun state,” she said.

Four years later, Mr. Kiele, 49, remains in Reno, yet he now spends his workday inside a factory. In place of worrying about the doneness of a customer’s rib-eye, he trains people on the proper handling of industrial chemicals. It extracts critical minerals like nickel, lithium, copper and cobalt, and uses them to manufacture components for electric vehicle batteries. Last summer, Lincoln Center bid farewell to the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, a fixture of the city’s cultural scene since 1973, saying it was time to reimagine the ensemble for a modern and more inclusive age. On Monday, the center offered a preview of its plans. The Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center, as the ensemble is now called, will convene in July for its first season under the rising conductor Jonathon Heyward, as part of the center’s Summer for the City festival. Heyward said in an interview that he wanted to maintain the orchestra’s innovative spirit. “We’re just continuing in a way that is very much in line with a previous legacy of the orchestra.”
