People understood right away what I was saying, and I didn't have to spell or repeat it. I'm impressed and touched when someone takes the time to spell my name correctly, and it's made me hyper-aware of spelling others' names right. Because I always had to spell and repeat my name, I wanted my own kids to have short, simple ones. I once hoped that I might marry someone with a short, easy last name, but it was not to be.

"It's really a paradigm shift in how we're able to live with vitality and avoid suffering," said Jonathan Swerdlin, co-founder of Function Health. Function Health will test members for 100 biomarkers — everything from heart, liver and kidney health to metabolic and immune systems to cancer markers and nutrients. Equinox will then run its own battery of fitness tests, including VO2 max, strength and movement range.
