October is officially behind us and it was a rather eventful month in the world of sales and deals. We covered the Prime Early Access Sale, a second Prime Day of sorts, which essentially kicked off early Black Friday holiday shopping. SHANGHAI, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Chinese consumers are typically known for lavish spending on high-end handbags, clothes and accessories that sustain Western luxury brands. Brands that have jumped on the trend include Kweichow Moutai (600519.SS), best known for $300 bottles of baijiu, the Chinese spirit popular at banquets. It debuted baijiu-infused ice cream at $10 a cup in May, racking up 2.5 million yuan ($350,000) of sales on the first day. Chinese consumers are "spoiling themselves with those little things and they're loving something novel," said Mark Tanner, founder of marketing agency China Skinny. "When times aren't so good, people want to feel better, guilty pleasures like ice cream can help," said Low.

Amazon's second Prime Day sales event of the year takes place on October 11 and 12. This is the first year that Amazon has had two Prime Day sales events. Amazon projected a smaller order volume than for its July Prime Day event, leaked documents show. In comparison, July's Prime Day event saw a peak of approximately 60,900 orders per minute in the North America region. Amazon has said this year's Prime Day event was its "biggest ever," with more than 300 million items sold.
