More than a third of all U.S. adults have a side hustle, recent data shows. The people who make the most money have something in common: lots of emotional intelligence. "A gigantic portion of [side hustle] work involves emotional intelligence pretty heavily," says M.K., who ran Austin-based customer experience consulting firm The Heart Company for eight years before joining Indeed. The more you understand what other people need in their lives, the more you can build your product or service to be a useful solution, he notes. "I think [emotional intelligence] is going to be a big pillar of the future of work, especially with AI taking care of a lot of operational things," M.K.

Holmes, for example, has been taking her daughter on coffee dates since she was four years old, she recently told the "Everyday Better with Leah Smart" podcast. "But then I was like, 'Okay, how many coffee dates do we have ahead of us?'" Then she's going off to college … going to go live [in New York.]" Calculating how much time she had left helped her find "joy and satisfaction" in more mundane tasks.

An "industrial renaissance" in the U.S. is fueling demand for capital, Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management said at the Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit in Hong Kong. "What we're watching is this incredible demand for capital happening against a backdrop of a U.S. government that is running significant deficits.
