Eibhlis Gale-ColemanPunta Caracol Acqua Lodge is set over the ocean along the shores of Punta Caracol, a mangrove-lined coastline on the west side of the main Colón Island in Panama. Because of its remote location, everything — including guest transfers, staff switching shifts, and even laundry runs — relies on motor-powered fishing boats. I booked a shuttle service from Costa Rica to Bocas Town and took a short taxi ride from the town center to the port. From there, the resort sent a boat to pick me up. The distinctive mint-green and yellow exterior was rustic — a far cry from any soulless hotel chain I've stayed in.

I always thought I'd do the same when I had my kids and spend our vacations exploring new places as a family. Now that I have my own three kids, I've found that I don't particularly enjoy family vacations. Supplements, superfoods, and health hacks are advertised constantly to those looking to live a long, healthy life, but focusing on just those quick solutions is not very effective, according to leading longevity researcher Dan Buettner. On a recent episode of "Ten Percent Happier with Dan Harris," Buettner, who popularized the world's Blue Zones, spoke about how attempting to achieve good health through extreme measures can be counterproductive. In "five corners of the world," blue zones are living on average eight years longer than Americans, Buettner said. Yet, "none of them are tracking their steps, or taking superfoods, or running down to Costa Rica for stem cells." There's something that people in Blue Zones do that most Americans don't, and probably should, he noted.

If the Biden administration had its way, far more electronic chips would be made in factories in, say, Texas or Arizona. Those places may not be the first that come to mind when people think of semiconductors. But administration officials are trying to transform the world’s chip supply chain and are negotiating intensely to do so. The core elements of the plan include getting foreign companies to invest in chip-making in the United States and finding other countries to set up factories to finish the work. Officials and researchers in Washington call it part of the new “chip diplomacy.”

CNN —A video-gaming Italian teenager will become the Catholic Church’s first millennial saint after his cause for canonization was approved by church authorities. Often depicted wearing jeans and trainers, his story is seen as helpful for the Catholic Church as it seeks to better connect with the younger generation in a digital age, and he’s become popular with Catholic youth groups. In May, a second miracle attributed to Acutis was recognized by Pope Francis, a decision which paved the way for him to be declared a saint. He was reportedly healed after his mother said she prayed to Acutis to intercede and help heal her son. Her mother said she prayed for her daughter’s recovery at the tomb of Acutis in Assisi.

CNN —Host Germany kicked off Euro 2024 in spectacular fashion on Friday, hammering 10-man Scotland 5-1 in Munich to record the biggest opening match victory in European Championship history. Antonio Rüdiger’s own goal in the 87th minute was nothing more than a consolation but gave the Scotland fans a moment to remember on a difficult night. Germany didn’t allow Scotland fans much time to enjoy their moment as Can, who was a late callup following youngster Aleksandar Pavlović’s injury, found the bottom corner from the edge of the area. The thumping win will be a considerable boost to a team that didn’t come into its home tournament with high expectations. It was a brutal opening night for Scotland fans.
