At trial Thursday, defense lawyer Andrew Baldwin asked the clerk, Kathy Shank, if his client was trying to "assist" the investigation. And he said the information Allen provided to authorities days later was marked as cleared when it shouldn’t have been. Allen provided a similar account, according to former Delphi Police Chief Steve Mullin, who conducted the interview, though Allen said he’d arrived at the trail at noon and left at 1:30 p.m. When Mullin showed Allen a photo of the “bridge guy,” the former chief testified, Allen responded: “If the picture was taken with the girl’s camera, there was no way it could be him,” Mullin testified. In his testimony, Liggett said it was the discovery of that bullet along with witness accounts that prompted Allen’s arrest.

CNN —Former President Donald Trump continues to repeat his lie that US schools are sending children for gender-affirming surgeries without their parents’ consent — even though his own presidential campaign could not find a single example of this having happened. Without parental consent.” He added, “At first, when I was told that was actually happening, I said, you know, it’s an exaggeration. There is no evidence that schools in any part of the United States have sent children for gender-affirming surgeries without their parents’ approval, or performed unapproved gender-affirming surgeries on site; none of that is “allowed” anywhere in the country. Even in the states where gender-affirming surgery is legal for people under age 18, parental consent is required before a minor can undergo such a procedure. Taylor outlined a lengthy process before a minor might undergo a gender-affirming surgery.

Some advocates for gender-affirming care for youth say the report mischaracterizes the normal caution being taken by researchers to carefully present and interpret scientific data. “They’re in really good shape when they come in, and they’re in really good shape after two years,” Olson-Kennedy told the Times. Her description appears to contradict the baseline characteristics of the 95 study participants, which were published in 2022. Numerous studies have documented high rates of suicide and suicidal thoughts in transgender children and teenagers, and the physical changes of puberty can greatly increase the distress of feeling trapped in the wrong body. Nine children – about 4% of the sample – expressed regret over puberty blockers or hormones, and four discontinued their therapy.

I told my mom about it, excited to share how advanced things had gotten since her days of feeding babies. Take, for instance, apps that don't just help parents track the minutiae of baby care but rather track the practice of parenting young children. While marketed as parent-support, most parenting apps are child-centered to the extreme, using the parent as a conduit to deliver a particular parenting approach.

And it could bring the devastating war in Gaza closer to an end, experts say – if Israel and its allies can seize the opportunity. Before the war, power in Hamas was decentralized – with Gaza political chief Sinwar just one of many leaders, Chorev said. Shira Efron, a senior director of policy research at the Diane and Guilford Glazer Foundation said Sinwar’s killing gives Netanyahu the chance to claim a victory. Sinwar’s killing could also pave the way for a hostage and ceasefire agreement, since he was believed to be one of the main blockers of a deal. Chorev, from Tel Aviv University, added that Netanyahu could see Sinwar’s killing as a moment to cement his legacy.

Today, 26% of mothers are stay-at-home parents, compared with just 7% of fathers, according to a separate Pew study from August.
