A Google employee said certain snacks are no longer available at its San Francisco office, per The Atlantic. Hungry Google employees may be disappointed to learn that their employer has cut some of its office snacks. "They took away the dried mango," a project manager at Google who works from the search giant's San Francisco office told The Atlantic. The project manager — who spoke to The Atlantic anonymously — said the San Francisco office also got rid of Maui-onion chips and small bags of M&Ms. The elimination of snacks is just one of many perks Google has slashed in its effort to cut costs.

McDonald's is testing new cold brew options in select Southern California restaurants. The fast-food chain is testing two cold brew options at some Southern California locations, Restaurant Business reported. McDonald's is piloting traditional cold brew, served black over ice, as well as a marble cold brew, which contains syrup and cream. More recently, the chain has added four new McCafé menu options in Australia, including a banana and blueberry loaf, according to the Daily Mail. McDonald's reported 12% global comparable-store sales growth in the fourth quarter, compared with 5% growth for Starbucks.

In a memo published Tuesday, the Pentagon told military personnel to stop eating poppy seeds. Consuming poppy seeds could result in a codeine positive drug test, the memo warned. Some poppy seed varieties have higher codeine contamination than previously thought, it said. Poppy seeds are a naturally-derived product originating from poppy plants. The organization usually also advises athletes to stop eating poppy seeds a few days before and during competition to avoid positive tests.
