Arctic-2 LNG has been expecting to start exporting soon and it is uncertain how much Russian LNG would be blocked by the new measures. The largest Russian LNG producer Novatek (NVTK.MM) said in September it would start shipments from Arctic-2 LNG early next year. The State Department said Zakharov is the creator and designer of the drones. "And every sanctions decision must work in full, so that there is no chance for Russia to bypass them." The State Department also imposed sanctions on multiple defense-related entities and procurement companies in the UAE.

Russia is adding cheap, domestic-made drones to its arsenal, war analysts say. The Institute for the Study of War said Moscow is ramping up production of lighter drones. Analysts with the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said in a Tuesday dispatch that Moscow used new, long-range "Italmas" drones for the first time in its war on Ukraine, according to speculation by Russian media. The ISW cited Russian sources who said the Russian-produced "Italmas" drones are lighter and harder for Ukrainian air defenses to shoot down. The ISW previously said Russia is aiming to add more drones, loitering munitions, missiles, and guided bombs to its arsenal.

At around $1,000 a shot, it is meant to make shooting down Russian drones vastly cheaper. AdvertisementAdvertisementAn Australian defense company has developed a new weapon dubbed the "drone killer" that could help Ukraine face Russia's suicide drone barrages at a low cost. The weapon can be mounted on a truck and operated with a joystick and a screen, Australia's ABC News reported. The US-supplied NASAM missile system, sent to Ukraine last winter, costs around $500,000 to fire. According to ABC, the cost of shooting down a drone with it is estimated to be between $100 and $1,000.

Covert strikes by Ukraine in Sudan would mark a dramatic and provocative expansion of Kyiv’s theater of war against Moscow. Aside from a string of Ukrainian drone attacks that hit deep inside Russian territory, Ukraine’s ongoing counter-offensive has been focused on the country’s occupied east and south. What appears to be a DJI MAVIC 3 drone can be seen in the videos filming the drone strikes. Six drone strikes targeted pickup trucks driving on Shambat bridge.

"Defense happens to be our largest customer and market that we serve, but we make systems that go beyond in terms of applications, to more product lines or capabilities have very direct implications to space," Nawabi said on CNBC's "Manifest Space" podcast. It's best known perhaps for the design and development of the Mars Ingenuity helicopter with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Recently, however, Ingenuity conducted its 57th flight, surpassing 100 minutes of total Mars flight time. The lessons learned from this endeavor will also apparently bolster the emerging space robotics business.

Defeated by strong current where the Ichetucknee flows through a culvert under Highway 27, we let ourselves float downstream. Nearing the junction with the Santa Fe River we could hear music; a crowd of boats was anchored along the forest edge. Around Grassy Hole Spring, where the river threads through islands of vegetation, we saw scattered canoes, each with a band of snorkelers. Close to two miles after starting, we passed the outflow from Blue Hole Spring, the largest spring in the group that feeds the Ichetucknee, and paddling became less strenuous. We reached North End launch, where the river begins with water from its headspring.

In U.S.-China AI contest, the race is on to deploy killer robots

In this high-tech contest, seizing the upper hand across fields including AI and autonomous weapons, like Ghost Shark, could determine who comes out on top. This could become critical if the United States intervened against an assault by Beijing on Taiwan. Cheap and expendableThe AI military sector is dominated by software, an industry where change comes fast. Still, the available disclosures of spending on AI military research do show that outlays on AI and machine learning grew sharply in the decade from 2010. But aerial, land and underwater robots, teamed with humans, are poised to play a major role in warfare. Evidence of such change is already emerging from the war in Ukraine. There, even rudimentary teams of humans and machines operating without significant artificial-intelligence powered autonomy are reshaping the battlefield. Simple, remotely piloted drones have greatly improved the lethality of artillery, rockets and missiles in Ukraine, according to military analysts who study the conflict. Both Russian and Ukrainian forces are integrating traditional weapons with AI, satellite imaging and communications, as well as smart and loitering munitions, according to a May report from the Special Competitive Studies Project, a non-partisan U.S. panel of experts.

Ukraine has relied on its decades-old Gepard cannons to defend against Russian drones and missiles. A new video published Thursday by the Ukrainian military shows the anti-aircraft guns in action. Ukraine has been using Cold War-era Gepard cannons to take down Russian drones and missiles. A German arms manufacturer plans to send 300,000 35mm rounds to Kyiv for its Gepards. Ukraine has relied heavily on its arsenal of Gepards provided by Germany to blast low-flying Russian drones and missiles out of the sky. It took existing 35mm ammunition from infantry fighting vehicles and modified it for the Gepard, which needed its fire control unit to recognize the new munitions. A Gepard gun successfully fired the ammunition in May, and Rheinmetall said on Sunday that "a first lot" of 35mm ammunition is now on its way to Ukraine.

Experts say Moscow could use its expanded arsenal for bigger drone attacks against Ukraine in the coming months. The Russian drones seen in Ukraine have come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and with varying missions. We can see greater pressure on Ukrainian air defenses and electronic warfare defenses." Larger drone attacks could also be explained by a shift in how Russia carries out its high-volume strikes. And that could, in turn, up the pressure on Ukraine's air defenses.
