The cheese, worth over $390,000, was taken from London cheese specialist Neal’s Yard Dairy on Oct. 21, the company said in an Instagram post. Three cheeses from three different suppliers were stolen: Hafod Welsh organic cheddar, Westcombe cheddar, and Pitchfork cheddar. Neal's Yard Dairy said that "despite the significant financial blow," they've paid each of their artisan cheesemakers in full for their products. Oliver said that as the world’s most consumed cheese type, a cheddar theft affects exports to 20 different countries. The whereabouts of the stolen cheese have yet to be determined.

CNN —H5N1 bird flu has been identified in a pig in the United States for the first time, the US Department of Agriculture said Wednesday. The USDA and Oregon veterinary officials are investigating bird flu cases in a backyard farming operation that had a mix of poultry and livestock, including pigs, the agency said. After H5N1 was identified in other animals on the farm, five swine were euthanized for testing; two tested negative, and results are still pending for two others. Some previous flu infections in pigs have allowed influenza viruses to change rapidly and develop new capabilities. Neal’s Yard Dairy, a distributor, wholesaler, and retailer of British artisanal cheese, has asked international cheesemongers to be on the lookout for the stolen cheese, particularly in 10-kilogram (22-pound) and 24-kilogram (52-pound) blocks. “If anyone hears anything about posh cheese going for cheap, it’s probably some wrong’uns,” Oliver said.
