“We stand by Business Insider and its newsroom,” said a spokesman for Axel Springer, the German media company that owns the publication. With its stories, Business Insider raised both the idea of hypocrisy and the possibility that academic dishonesty is widespread, even among the nation's most prominent scholars. The business leader reached out in protest to board members at both Business Insider and Axel Springer. “Business Insider supports and empowers our journalists to share newsworthy, factual stories with our readers, and we do so with editorial independence,” Peng wrote. Business Insider would not say who conducted the review of its work.

She started working remotely in March so she could move around with her travel-nurse boyfriend. But her days were lonely and she missed her coworkers, so she decided to go back to the office. Because of these benefits, I always thought that working remotely would be incredible, so when my boyfriend took an assignment as a travel nurse in March, I asked my company if I could work remotely so I could travel with him. It was also hard to feel as invested in my job while working remotely. It made me sad because I do love learning, working hard, and trying my best, but when I'm working from home, it just doesn't come as naturally to me.

BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) — Jurors convicted a Denver-area police officer Thursday and acquitted another of charges in the 2019 death of Elijah McClain, a Black man whose name became a rallying cry in protests over racial injustice in policing. Roedema and another officer who was not charged held down McClain while paramedics administered the ketamine. The case initially did not receive widespread attention, but protests over the killing of George Floyd the following year sparked outrage over McClain’s death. Paramedics injected McClain with ketamine as Roedema and another officer who was not charged held him on the ground. However, Cina still was not able to say if the death was a homicide or an accident or if the officers’ actions contributed to McClain’s death.

Chair of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley stands by at a ceremony in the East Room of the White House in Washington, U.S., September 5, 2023. Milley will hand over command to Air Force chief General Charles Q. Brown, who will be only the second Black officer to become chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, after Colin Powell two decades ago. Milley took the reins in 2019 after being nominated by Trump, but soon found himself having to balance the need to maintain his relationship with the former president without appearing to be political. Brown is a self-described introvert whose public persona contrasts sharply with the outgoing Milley, a loquacious Boston native.

A third officer and two paramedics facing charges in McClain's death are scheduled for trial later this year. Charges were not brought for two years after McClain's death, by which time the case along with others had sparked outrage and a national reckoning over racial injustice in American policing. The indictments followed an outcry over McClain’s death during protests ignited by the police killing of George Floyd. He called McClain’s death “tragic,” but said that finding made it hard to prove that the officers’ actions caused his death. Cina said he couldn’t rule out whether the stress of being held down by the officers may have contributed to McClain’s death.

Experts say the path to healthy relationships for people with NPD or narcissistic personality traits is not impossible, but it's also not easy or affordable. Especially because many insurance plans might not cover specific mental health treatments. But for someone with more demanding mental health problems, the out-of-pocket cost can make treatment prohibitive. "There is a severe shortage of mental health therapists and many don't take insurance, as insurance companies pay very little for mental health therapy," she says. Men are using AI tools like ChatGPT to improve their dating lives, an Attractiontruth study found. Some men said they used AI to generate their bios and craft personalized messages to their matches. Online dating can be tough, but AI might be making it a little bit easier, a new study suggests. Researchers at Attractiontruth, an AI dating coach, surveyed 1,371 men across the sexuality spectrum to see if they are using AI to enhance their dating profiles. In February, OkCupid used ChatGPT to generate matching-questions — like "Are you more of an introvert or extrovert" — that were later added to the platform, according to a company blog post.

"I think the biggest difference in voguing is that you need to dance your own self, the deepest you want to express," said Sui Kawakubo, a member of the Kiki House of Kawakubo, one of the city's key voguing "families", as they describe themselves. Voguing is a dance style characterised by staccato hand motions and angular arm and body postures punctuated by brief pauses, much in the manner of a model posing for photographs. "I wouldn't say voguing has made me an extrovert, but it allows a new me to emerge," added Kawakubo, a self-proclaimed introvert who uses a stage name chosen as a tribute to Japanese fashion designer Rei Kawakubo to protect his privacy.

commentary is missing: These systems are going to upend our relationships long before they remake our economies. That’s going to be a hurdle for anyone who wants to replace a lawyer or a researcher with an A.I. Conducting oversight for a system that’s more eloquent and knowledgeable than you are is going to be tough. America is, by any historical standard, unimaginably rich and powerful, and yet we’ve lost what matters most: community and connection. That’s the America these A.I.

CNN —It has been 40 years since Sally Ride became the first woman from the United States to travel into outer space. She was not open about her personal life, according to former NASA astronaut Steve Hawley, who was married to Ride from 1982 to 1987. However, the educational company she cofounded, Sally Ride Science, revealed more of her personal life in her 2012 obituary, recognizing her longtime partner, Tam O’Shaughnessy, after Ride died of pancreatic cancer. NASASherr’s book “Sally Ride: America’s First Woman in Space” was first published in 2014. As he acknowledged, the story was unusual because it had started with his own experience with Sherry-Lehmann, a New York store that had long been venerated. Many New Yorkers who don’t know wine know about Sherry-Lehmann. “The customer base on the Upper East Side left town,” debilitating the company’s bottom line, Stewart told me. For people who know their wine, Sherry-Lehmann was something more than a retail store with Park Avenue respectability. Just as there are corn futures and soybean futures, there are wine futures, which struck me as a concept a business reporter would love.
There's a common misconception that introverts have to mimic stereotypically extroverted personalities to succeed: Be outspoken, always raise your hand and command a room. "If you know that you prefer smaller settings, you might not want to apply for a job at a large corporation," Allen says. The most daunting part might be opting out of extrovert-friendly situations without bothering anyone else, Allen says. Allen's advice: Come prepared with clear examples of situations you'd like to avoid, how you'd like to contribute instead and why it'll make you both happier and more productive.
