CNN —Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York has introduced articles of impeachment against conservative Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas over their failure to disclose gifts they have received while serving on the court – a messaging move that will surely fail in the GOP-controlled House. “Justice Thomas and Alito’s repeated failure over decades to disclose that they received millions of dollars in gifts from individuals with business before the court is explicitly against the law,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a statement. This is the latest example of House Democrats – led by some of their highest-profile members – prioritizing the Supreme Court in their campaign year messaging. They’ve previously signaled that, if they regain control of the House, they’d use the power of the gavel to investigate alleged ethical lapses by the justices. The GOP-led House Oversight Committee issued subpoenas Wednesday for three White House aides, requesting depositions to discuss President Joe Biden's cognitive state. The subpoenas, first reported by Axios, are for first lady Jill Biden's senior adviser Anthony Bernal, White House deputy chief of staff Annie Tomasini and White House senior adviser Ashley Williams. "President Biden is clearly unfit for office, yet his staff are trying to hide the truth from the American people," he added. When reached for comment, White House spokesperson Ian Sams criticized Comer and called the subpoenas a "baseless political stunt intended for him to get media attention instead of engage in legitimate oversight." The three aides were previously asked to appear before the committee as part of the Biden classified documents investigation, but the committee says the White House blocked their appearances.

CNN —Hunter Biden has sued Fox News and its parent corporation, accusing the right-wing network of smearing him and unlawfully publishing his explicit images without his consent in a 2022 miniseries about his legal troubles. The miniseries, “The Trial of Hunter Biden,” was a six-part offering on the Fox Nation digital streaming network, and was also promoted on Fox News, the cable TV channel. It featured a dramatized “mock trial” about Hunter Biden’s overseas financial dealings that led in part to his federal tax indictment and that also fueled House Republicans’ struggling impeachment inquiry into his father. Fox News took down the miniseries in late April, one day after Hunter Biden threatened to file a lawsuit. “The program was removed within days of the letter, in an abundance of caution, but Hunter Biden is a public figure who has been the subject of multiple investigations and is now a convicted felon.
