An interest-rate decision from the FOMC, or Federal Open Market Committee, is due at 2 p.m.
The central bank's chair, Jerome Powell, will hold a press conference at 2.30 p.m.
The Federal Reserve is likely to raise its benchmark policy rate by 0.25 percentage point to a range of 5.25% to 5.5%, a 22-year high.
But recent growth has likely been too brisk for Powell to signal this will be the last hike of this tightening campaign.
In the meantime, markets are holding broadly steady, with stock futures close to flat, and Treasury yields and the dollar both fractionally lower.
