☆ Brazil lifts ban on X after Elon Musk complies with court orders

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) in Brazil suspends Elon Musk's social network after it fails to comply with orders from Minister Alexandre de Moraes to block accounts of those being investigated by the Brazilian justice system. Elon Musk's X is getting back up and running in Brazil after a months-long standoff between the company and the country's federal supreme court minister, Alexandre de Moraes. "X is proud to return to Brazil," the company wrote in a post on X from its global government affairs account. Rather than comply, Musk initially closed X's headquarters in Brazil, and said he wouldn't employ a legal representative there for a time. G1 Globo news reported that users were regaining access to X on Tuesday after the court authorization.

☆ Chaos is building for shippers as U.S. port strike continues and costs rise

Brashier said some clients had containers that were once destined for the Port of Savannah diverted to the Port of Norfolk in the last hours before the strike began. More than a dozen container vessels are currently waiting in the port anchorage area of Freeport, Everstream Analytics data shows. The Federal Supreme Court (STF) in Brazil suspends Elon Musk's social network after it fails to comply with orders from Minister Alexandre de Moraes to block accounts of those being investigated by the Brazilian justice system. X has to pay one last fine before the social network owned by Elon Musk is allowed back online in Brazil, according to a decision out Friday from the country's top justice, Alexandre de Moraes. Earlier this month, X filed paperwork informing Brazil's supreme court that it is now in compliance with orders, which it previously defied. X's legal representative in Brazil, Rachel de Oliveira, is also required to pay a fine of 300,000 reals. Earlier this month, the STF froze the business assets of Musk companies, including both X and satellite internet business Starlink, operating in Brazil.

I wanted to taste a descendant of those ancient peppers, Peru’s native ají amarillo. Now it was time to learn how this distillation of ají amarillo manifested in local dishes. I felt as if this might be the closest I’d yet come to really tasting ají amarillo, its frank optimism, its essence as a fruit. The ají amarillo sauce was frozen into a shimmery yellow dust that turned to leche de tigre on the plate. Then came the soup, made of ají amarillo gone long on the stove with fish stock and fermented corn.

The Brazilian Supreme Court asked the social media platform Saturday to present documents validating its new legal representative in the country. X was shut down in Brazil in late August after it did not comply with orders from the top court related to hate speech moderation on the platform. X lawyers said late Friday that the platform had named a legal representative in Brazil, addressing a key demand imposed by the court. X had a legal representative in Brazil until mid-August, when it decided to close its offices and fire its local staff. It was not immediately clear which were the accounts X has been ordered to block, as the probe is confidential.
