Adobe reported third-quarter results on Thursday that beat Wall Street expectations for sales and earnings, but the stock slid 10% in extended trading on fourth-quarter guidance that came up short. Here's how Adobe did for the quarter ending in August versus LSEG consensus estimates:Revenue : $5.41 billion, vs. $5.37 billion expected: $5.41 billion, vs. $5.37 billion expected Earnings per share: $4.65, adjusted, vs. $4.53 estimatedAdobe said it expected earnings per share between $4.63 and $4.68 on revenue in the fourth quarter of between $5.5 billion and $5.55 billion. Analysts polled by LSEG were expecting a forecast of $4.67 of earnings on $5.61 billion of sales. Adobe said it recorded $1.68 billion of net income during the quarter, or $3.76 per diluted share. The company's innovation pipeline provide long-term growth potential, with the earnings event likely serving as a catalyst for further upside. With expected EPS growth of 14% and revenue growth of 11%, Adobe maintain its leadership in the software industry. To capitalize on the potential for an earnings-driven rally, we suggest using a "broken wing butterfly," which offers a high reward-to-risk ratio. Specifically, I suggest the ADBE Sep 20, 2024 $585/630/650 Call butterfly at $10.96 Debit. This strategy entails: • Buying the Sep 20 $585 Calls @ $18.80 • Selling the Sep 20 $630 Calls (2 contracts) @ $5.53 • Buying the Sep 20 $650 Calls @ $3.22 This butterfly strategy offers a maximum reward of $3,404 per contract while limiting risk to only $1,096 per contract.

Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange during morning trading on September 04, 2024 in New York City. U.S. stock futures inched lower Wednesday night as investors brace for more inflation and labor data, following a volatile session spurred by the release of the August consumer price index. S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures dipped 0.07% and 0.13%, respectively. Stocks dropped earlier in the day when August's consumer price index showed an uptick in core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices. Wall Street is anticipating the release of the August producer price index on Thursday.

How to trade Adobe's upcoming earnings using options
  + stars: | 2024-09-09 | by ( Michael Khouw | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +5 min
I'll break down various option trade scenarios into the earnings, focusing on one that will benefit from a big move in any direction. Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription model generates recurring revenue and maintains a solid customer base, from freelancers to large enterprises. Adobe's Document Cloud, featuring Acrobat and PDF solutions, is critical in digital document management and e-signatures. Of course, any bears out there could also use a calendar to bet on a downside move, using a $500 Sep/Jan put calendar. Combining the call and put calendar is a trade I usually refer to as a strangle swap.

Lam aims to change that with NEX, which develops AI image tools for entertainment, gaming, and marketing. Founded in late 2023, the company recently raised a $3.5 million seed round led by Foundation Capital, with participation from Point72 Ventures. NEX does this by enabling users to generate images inspired by other images, not just text inputs, in a "real-time canvas." The startup's tech can also tailor the AI models based on a customer's existing data, a process called finetuning, or even develop models from scratch. Lam's vision for NEX is to be the "visual media tool for the AI era."

At least, that's what data security experts like Matt Radolec, vice president of incident response at data security company Varonis, say. "Copilots have pass-through permissions," Radolec said. There's also value in proceeding at a slow and steady pace with gen AI processes. Instead, Ensono is developing its own tool so the company can better enable and control its data security. Gen AI has made cybersecurity mistakes costlier, and insiders now pose a bigger threat — malicious or otherwise — than ever before.

Hailed as Britain's Bill Gates, Lynch sold Autonomy, his groundbreaking data-management company, to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion. Shareholders and business commentators were puzzled about what HP, a hardware company, would do with Autonomy, a software company — and why the latter was worth $11 billion. A year after the acquisition, HP wrote down $8.8 billion of the purchase value and accused Lynch of lying about Autonomy's finances. Lynch said HP stifled Autonomy with mismanagement and bureaucracy that pushed out employees and stymied sales. "This verdict closes the book on a relentless 13-year effort to pin HP's well-documented ineptitude on Dr. Lynch," Morvillo said in a joint statement with his attorney colleague Brian Heberlig.

Practical purchases dominated this year's Amazon Prime Day in the US, the 48 hours of mega-discounts that generate billions in sales. Last year, consumer electronics and cosmetics were among the top Prime Day purchases, CNBC reported. Adobe Analytics forecasted before the mega-sale that this year's Prime Day would hit a record $14 billion in sales, breaking 2023's record by 10.5%. And it's too early to know what Amazon shoppers bought around the world: Some countries' Prime Day sales stretch for nearly a week, while India's Prime Day happens later this summer.
