In one of the most significant pending cases before the Supreme Court, the justices must weigh whether the TikTok ban Congress approved in April violates the First Amendment. “TikTok collects vast swaths of data about tens of millions of Americans,” the administration told the Supreme Court on Friday. When Trump was president in 2020, he signed an executive order to effectively ban TikTok, but it was halted in the courts. The quick-turn timing of the briefing reflected the highly unusual speed with which the Supreme Court agreed to consider the case. Trump’s brief was filed by D. John Sauer, whom Trump has said he intends to nominate as solicitor general and who, if confirmed, would represent the Trump administration at the Supreme Court.

London CNN —King Charles III has ended royal warrants for Cadbury and Unilever, which owns brands including Marmite and Ben & Jerry’s, in a blow to the household names. Charles announced the second set of warrants of his reign late last week, recognizing the included brands and companies as royal suppliers and allowing them to feature the Royal Arms on their packaging. No reason was given for the discontinuation of the pair’s warrants, as per royal protocol. More than 500 brands and companies now hold warrants, according to the Royal Warrant Holders Association. Activist group B4Ukraine wrote an open letter addressed to Charles in June, urging him to drop companies including Mondelez and Unilever from the royal warrants list.

The Conversation —It’s hard to imagine a holiday season without “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” The 1965 broadcast has become a staple — etched into traditions across generations like decorating the tree or sipping hot cocoa. As a business professor who has studied the “Peanuts” franchise, I see “A Charlie Brown Christmas” as a fascinating historical moment. When Charlie Brown joyfully returns to his friends with the spindly little tree, the rest of the “Peanuts” gang ridicule his choice. “I guess I really don’t know what Christmas is all about,” the utterly defeated Charlie Brown sighs. Back in the 1960s, commercial realities almost derailed Schulz’s special, yet those same forces ultimately ensured its broadcast.

Earlier this year, it struck a deal to import U.S. liquefied natural gas through a pipeline from Poland. Fico’s views on Russia’s war on Ukraine differ sharply from most other European leaders.
