One of five former Memphis, Tennessee, police officers accused of fatally beating 29-year-old Tyre Nichols during a traffic stop this month was accused in 2016 of participating in a prison assault that left an inmate unconscious, according to a federal civil rights complaint. The officers accused him of flushing “contraband” after they saw smoke in the area where he was, according to the suit. Sledge accused Haley and another officer of punching him in the face, according to the suit. The Shelby County Division of Corrections did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday night. The Shelby County medical examiner's office has not released an official cause of death.
An endangered vulture was found dead at the Dallas Zoo over the weekend with an "unusual wound," facility officials said Monday — the third suspicious incident there in less than two weeks. LOS ANGELES — "Will & Grace" actor Leslie Jordan, who was found without a pulse after a car crash in Hollywood last year, died of sudden cardiac dysfunction, officials said Thursday. Jordan, 67, experienced sudden heart failure due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, the Los Angeles County medical examiner said. Jordan's agent, David Shaul, had previously said that Jordan had likely suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of his car. A Pennsylvania woman was accused of shooting her parents in their heads and dismembering their bodies with a chain saw, authorities said Wednesday. A 16-year-old mother and her infant son appeared to be fleeing what authorities described as a "massacre" at their California home when they were shot in their heads, officials said Tuesday. Others killed in the shooting included Rosa Parraz, 72; Marcos Parraz, 19; Eladio Parraz, 52; and Jennifer Analla, 49. At one point, he could hear the shooters rattling the door knob before they moved on, Boudreaux said. Boudreaux declined to say why the family appeared to have been targeted by a gang or cartel. Actor and comedian Andy Dick was accused Friday of public intoxication and failing to register as a sex offender, authorities said. Jail records show he was booked just before 1 a.m. and released roughly two hours later. An attorney who represented Dick in the case, Daniel Kapelovitz, called the case “totally bogus” and said at the time that his client is often falsely accused. A Massachusetts man accused of misleading authorities during an investigation into his wife's disappearance was alleged to have threatened to kill her and her friends eight years ago, according to a police report obtained Thursday. The 2014 Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department report, obtained by NBC Washington, doesn't identify Brian Walshe, but an agency spokesperson confirmed Walshe was the person accused of threatening Ana Walshe over the phone. Four people were rescued after a Tesla plunged over a cliff in Calif., on Monday. Eight people, including five minors, were found dead at a home in southwestern Utah with what authorities described Wednesday as apparent gunshot wounds.
