One person was shot dead on board a bus that was hijacked with passengers on board in downtown Los Angeles early this morning, police said. Police took one suspect into custody early Wednesday who is suspected of hijacking the bus and was unharmed. One woman lost 175,000 euros ($195,000) to the fraudsters, while another lost 150,000 euros ($167,000). Both victims were contacted via a Brad Pitt fan site by fraudsters who managed to convince them that the actor wanted to invest in various projects with them, police said. West Papua, Indonesia — New Zealand pilot Phillip Mehrtens has been freed from more than 18 months in captivity in Indonesia’s Papua, the Indonesian police said in a statement on Saturday.
