After announcing a swathe of names for his Cabinet, president-elect Donald Trump appears to be conducting auditions for his Treasury Secretary. AdvertisementHere's some of the best commentary we've seen about the race to be the next Treasury Secretary. Blowups somewhere are inevitable, and a Treasury secretary needs the experience to deal with the fallout in a way that reassures markets. There could now be a contest for Treasury Secretary where … the no1 job is reassuring the markets. In return he might be rewarded with the job of treasury secretary.

He deemed them blue zones — a term that first appeared in an academic paper about longevity in Sardinia, Italy published in 2004. I found that the centenarians in the blue zones were missing or dead when the study was conducted. "They were falling in regions that had terrible health, and surprisingly that was the shared characteristic of most blue zones. In the letter they state that Buettner's claims about four of the blue zones, Okinawa, Sardinia, Ikaria and Nicoya, "have been fully validated by strict demographic criteria." Buettner told The New York Times that he frequently visits the blue zones to make sure birth records are accurate.

After 30 years in business, Amazon is a $2 trillion behemoth and one of the world's largest retailers. Some critics believed Amazon was doomed to never recover, but founder Jeff Bezos turned things around — with some helpful advice from Jim Sinegal, founder of rival retailer Costco. Amazon, Bezos added, would always aim to be the second type of company. Bezos credited the rebound to lower prices and promised to eliminate unnecessary costs in order to make more discounts possible, the Times reported — a similar strategy to Costco's. The venture capital firm that Donald Trump Jr. is reportedly joining eschews investments that push social and environmental issues and instead focuses on what it calls "EIG," or entrepreneurship, innovation, and growth. Like 1789 Capital, Trump Jr. has long been a proponent of the parallel economy, also called the "patriot economy," a term used by MAGA conservatives to refer to businesses that align with their traditional values. Inside the Quest to Make Fusion Energy a Reality

The Quest to Build a Star on Earth Start-ups say we’re closer than ever to near-limitless, zero-carbon energy from fusion. Today’s fusion start-ups aren’t just preparing for this moment in the lab. Such advances helped the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory produce more fusion energy than the energy in the incoming laser beams, for the briefest of moments, in 2022. They also helped European researchers generate record amounts of fusion energy at a facility in Britain last year. What worries researchers is how much some fusion start-ups are promising, and how soon.
