The EU and the “changing” Eastern neighborhood - between “post-factum diplomacy” and realpolitik, Analysis by Dionis CenușăOp-EdThe diversity of realities in Eastern Europe requires from the EU a "differentiated diplomacy" which emerges from the dynamics of local and external factors, dominant in the region ...Dionis Cenuşa, Senior ContributorThe European strategy for the Eastern Neighborhood is losing ground to the ever-changing reality. It is these shortcomings that define European diplomacy of post-factum, which remains relevant in 2020. First of all, Russia has structural levers that can influence the situation on the ground in the Eastern Partnership states. Instead, the emphasis of Westerners is on calming the political situation, without encouraging the opposition to annul the results of the parliamentary elections. Maia Sandu: Absence of Parliament’s support will be one more reason for snap electionsThe Party of Action and Solidarity’s candidate for President Maia Sandu said that if she is elected President and if it turns out that the Government and Parliament do not support very important measures, policies and decisions to help the citizens and the economy, this will be one more reasons for having snap elections as soon as possible. “I will enjoy the people’s support and this is the most important thing,” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “In Depth” on Pro TV channel. Asked if a coalition with the Party of Socialists is still possible, Maia Sandu said she saw what the PSRM represents and especially what Igor Dodon can do. Moldova should first of all restore the relations with Romania and Ukraine and improve the relations with the EU as the country needs support in the current crisis. Igor Dodon pursued a fully unbalanced foreign policy and she and her team must correct it urgently.

Moldovans in Italy need self-certification form to vote
  + stars: | 2020-11-12 | by ( ) www.ipn.md   time to read: +1 min
Moldovans in Italy need self-certification form to voteThe Moldovan citizens who will go to vote in the presidential runoff on November 15 at the polling stations established in Italy must have a self-certification form on them. They will be allowed access to the polling station in areas with restricted movement – red zone and orange zone - only based on such a document, IPN reports. Moldova’s Embassy in Italy said the standard self-certification form must contain the personal data, while in the division “situazione di necesita” there should be written “voto Elezioni Presidenziali Moldova-15 novembre” (voting in presidential elections Moldova – November 15). The correctly filled out form is the only document that will allow movement on the election day and the Embassy recommends the Moldovans to make sure that they have such a form. The Moldovans in Italy can vote at one of the 30 polling stations established there for the presidential elections.

National consensus and division of society. Op-Ed by Victor Pelin“The best solution for overcoming societal division and polarization of the political class is to reedit the national consensus stipulated in the Parliament Declaration of March 24, 2005. The national consensus was based on the signing, on February 22, 2005 of the European Union – Republic of Moldova Action Plan (EURMAP). Cooperation of government with civil society within national consensusThe national consensus for achieving the European integration objectives played a decisive role in the government’s willingness to cooperate with civil society. Imperialist movement vs. NGOs. Cultural Wars”, which the author calls a scientific work, has 856 pages and is accompanied by 1,500 references. The second factor that prevented a confrontation between the Russian imperialist movement and NGOs was the distraction of public attention. That’s why, while still waiting for the confrontation between the Russian imperialist movement and NGOs, the representative of the first should publish his financial reports. In fact, the activity of NGOs compared with that of the Russian imperialist movement that is involved, for example, in the war in Donbas, with the possibility of extension to the Republic of Moldova, lacks nerve and passion.

Activism of diaspora and mobilization in the country are important for runoff, expertFor the presidential runoff vote, a very important moment is for Maia Sandu to be able to maintain this activism of the diaspora and to mobilize the voters in the country so that they go to the polls. According to him, for the runoff vote the government will excessively employ administrative instruments and will apply the scheme with Transnistrian voters. Ion Tăbârță said a lot will depend on the discussions between Maia Sandu and Renato Usatyi set for today. “The question is, will these voters go to the polls and if, being ethnic voters, they will vote for Sandu. For the runoff, Dodon will have an attack campaign, aggressive in relation to Maia Sandu, the opposition and even the development partners.
