TEJEDA, Spain, July 25 (Reuters) - A rapidly-spreading wildfire that broke out at the centre of the Spanish island of Gran Canaria on Tuesday forced the authorities to remove several hundred villagers from their homes, shut three roads and deploy helicopters to contain the blaze. However, Spanish airports operator AENA told Reuters, however, the Gran Canaria airport on the eastern coast was operating normally. Antonio Morales, head of the Island Council of Gran Canaria, told reporters about 100 firefighters and nine aircraft were working to put out the blaze that has so far burned through 200 hectares of forest but no buildings have been harmed. "They told me they were already there trying to put the fire out but two hours later it broke out of control," he said. A passenger on a flight to a Spanish holiday destination has been arrested and detained by Portuguese police for "disobedience" after being accused of "disorderly" behavior on a flight, The Scottish Daily Express reported. A Jet2 spokesperson told the MailOnline that the plane was diverted to "offload a disruptive passenger," which "subsequently delayed" a later flight from Tenerife to Edinburgh. Earlier this month, a "drunk" British Jet2 passenger had to be restrained by plane staff after threatening to open the aircraft door, the MailOnline reported, causing an emergency landing in Bulgaria.

O ambarcaţiune găsită în derivă marţi, în apropierea coastelor uneia din Insulele Canare cu cadavrele a 24 de migranţi la bord, a ajuns miercuri pe Insula Tenerife, au indicat surse oficiale, raportând un bilanţ nou, transmite AFP, citat de agerpres.ro. O navă de salvare spaniolă a remorcat barca în portul Los Cristianos, unde o aşteptau serviciile de prim-ajutor. Numărătoarea efectuată odată cu sosirea bărcii în port a ridicat numărul morţilor la 24, printre care doi minori. Un elicopter militar a ridicat apoi trei persoane încă în viaţă la bord (doi bărbaţi şi o femeie) transportându-i la un spital din Tenerife. Cel puţin 1.851 de persoane şi-au pierdut viaţa anul trecut în încercări de a ajunge pe Insulele Canare, potrivit ONG-ului Caminando Fronteras, care monitorizează aceste migraţii.

O navă de salvare spaniolă a remorcat barca în portul Los Cristianos, unde o aşteptau serviciile de intervenție. „Pompierii scot cadavrele, care vor fi transportate într-o capelă", a indicat Domingo Martin de la Crucea Roşie spaniolă. Serviciile de salvare maritimă raportaseră iniţial un bilanţ cu 17 morţi, dar numărătoarea efectuată odată cu sosirea bărcii în port a ridicat numărul morţilor la 24. Printre aceștia erau și doi copii.

Poliția spaniolă a anunțat că a destructurat un atelier ilegal unde se produceau arme de foc cu ajutorul unor imprimante 3D, informează digi24. Poliția a anunțat că a mai găsit manuale privind activități de terorism și război de gherilă, precum și materiale despre supremația rasei albe. Presupusul proprietar al atelierului a fost acuzat de posesie ilegală de arme și explozibili. Într-un comunicat de presă, poliția spaniolă a anunțat că operațiunea a pornit când anchetatorii au aflat despre o persoană care încerca să vândă arme de foc și explozibili pe internet. Investigația i-a dus pe polițiști în Tenerife și în momentul percheziției a fost găsită o imprimantă 3D aflată în funcțiune care tocmai termina de realizat un cadru de pușcă.
