Daniels, the Commanders’ rookie sensation, threw for 269 yards with two touchdowns and no turnovers Sunday, continuing one of the most prolific starts to a career by a rookie quarterback in history. Are we living through another Lamar Jackson MVP season? The Bears defense has also been phenomenal and will keep them in games even when Williams will inevitably struggle, as all rookies do. Full disclosure: One of my bold predictions entering the season was that Rattler would wind up taking Derek Carr’s job this season. The bigger concern is the Saints’ defense, which surrendered 600 yards and 50 points and allowed the Bucs to convert 6 of 10 third downs. It doesn’t matter who plays quarterback — the Saints defense has to put up some resistance.

Quarterbacks Jayden Daniels versus Lamar Jackson should be pure fireworks, but it's far from the only intriguing matchup this weekend. Henry has scored in all five games this season while rushing for a league-high 572 yards. Considering down and distance, Henry has rushed for 229 yards more than expected, according to advanced NFL stats. Kirk Cousins, meanwhile, is fifth in passing yards per game despite a slow start for Atlanta’s offense. The Lions are conceding 349.0 yards per game, 11th-worst in the NFL.

☆ GM ditching 'Ultium' name for batteries and tech amid EV changes

Aside from EVs, GM touted its lowering capital costs and the company’s flexibility to produce both traditional vehicles with internal combustion engines and EVs. Shares of GM were roughly level aside from a roughly 3% increase during the beginning of the event. The change to Ultium comes after GM spent billions of dollars to develop in-house “Ultium” batteries and technologies that the automaker previously touted as “revolutionary” and the ultimate technologies to be able to build a profitable EV business. The company said the batteries and the technologies will remain, but the name “Ultium” will not, other than production operations such as its “Ultium Cells” joint venture plants with LG Energy Solution. GM has been rethinking its EV battery strategy amid changing market conditions and an influx of new, outside executives, including Tesla veterans JP Clausen, who now leads GM manufacturing, and Kurt Kelty, GM’s vice president of battery.

CNN —The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are departing for their Week 6 matchup early in order to avoid the expected landfall of Hurricane Milton in Tampa, Florida. Milton has reached speeds of 175 mph and was classed as a Category 5 hurricane on Monday, but has dipped back into Category 4 status. It is the strongest hurricane to occur anywhere on the planet this year and one of the 10 strongest (tied for ninth) hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic. Pierce, who served multiple roles, including associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, at ASU from 2017 to 2022, was sanctioned by the governing body for an alleged roughly year-long prohibited recruiting scheme. CNN has reached out to Pierce, the Raiders and ASU for comment. Pierce “consistently denied planning or arranging any portion of the visits, providing recruiting inducements, or participating in the out-of-state contacts and evaluations,” according to a NCAA press release. In the 67-page report, the NCAA provided what it described as multiple examples of the former Super Bowl Champion knowingly and repeatedly conducting forbidden recruiting violations. The NCAA has accused Antonio Pierce of recruiting violations while coaching at Arizona State University.

Legendary quarterback Tom Brady is putting his valuable watch collection up for sale. Tom Brady’s Audemars+Piguet watch up for auction at Sotheby’s. Sotheby’sIt wasn’t until Brady’s first Super Bowl in 2002 that his collection really took off. The highlights of the sale include a white gold and diamond-set flying tourbillon Royal Oak with bracelet by Audemars Piguet. The auction houses are also investing more in watches, with the major auction houses increasing their watch lots by 50% over last year, according to EveryWatch.
