The US Department of Labor is proposing a $212,646 fine against a Mississippi poultry processor after a 16-year-old sanitation worker was pulled into a chicken deboning machine and killed. The child became the second worker killed in just over two years at the plant. Mar-Jac Poultry, which could not immediately be reached for comment, operates facilities in Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Mar-Jac Poultry told NBC News in October that the company has followed all safety procedures in the incident involving the teen worker. The DOL said the poultry processor currently is also under a separate child labor investigation by its wage and hour division.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - One miner was killed and another injured by a flood at a coal mine in the Russia's Arctic Komi region, Russia's emergencies ministry said on Monday. Groundwater broke through into the Zapolyarnaya mine, flooding parts of it at a depth of 600 metres. Around 60 people were working in the mine at the time, three of whom were at the site where the water broke through, the ministry said. In a statement, VorkutaUgol, the company that operates the mine, said that all miners had been evacuated to the surface and work at the shaft stopped. It said that a special commission was working to establish the causes of the accident.

Sibanye-Stillwater announced the layoffs Wednesday at the only platinum and palladium mines in the United States, near Nye, Montana, and other Sibanye-owned facilities in Montana, including a recycling operation. He said the army knew the tunnel led to another opening in a Gaza kindergarten. Israel has faced international criticism for its Gaza campaign, including its attacks on Shifa, the enclave's largest hospital. But Hagari, referring to Hamas' use of a hideout beneath the hospital, said: "The world now should say what happened in Shifa, what happened in the hospitals, is a war crime."

We would spend the next six hours inside Gaza, much of that time spent getting back and forth from the tunnel shaft. The discovery of the tunnel shaft the next day was more compelling, showing an entrance to something underground. Standing on the edge of the tunnel shaft, it was apparent that the structure itself was substantial. The IDF said the tunnel shaft extends downwards approximately 10 meters and the tunnel runs for 55 meters.

Those left included 32 babies in extremely critical condition, trauma patients with severely infected wounds, and others with spinal injuries who are unable to move. The team was able to tour Shifa Hospital for an hour after about 2,500 displaced people, mobile patients and medical staff left the sprawling compound Saturday morning, said the World Health Organization, which led the mission.
