The presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris said Friday that its political operation raised $310 million in July, dwarfing the tally raised for the Republican nominee Donald Trump in the same month. Harris' team raised the eye-popping sum between the campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees. Trump's team said its larger political organization, which includes the former president's campaign and joint fundraising committees, raised $138.7 million in July. Harris' massive fundraising haul underscores renewed enthusiasm from Democratic donors, some of whom were hesitant to open their checkbooks after Biden's disastrous debate performance against Trump in late June. "More than 3 million donors made over 4.2 million contributions – with more than 2 million donors making their first donation this cycle," the campaign said in a press release.

Khan Younis, Gaza CNN —Palestinians who fled the southern Gazan city of Khan Younis just over a week ago started to return to their homes Tuesday to find extensive destruction, with many homes and multistory buildings reduced to ruins, after the Israeli military withdrew its forces. The Israeli military withdrew from eastern Khan Younis more than a week after an incursion and heavy bombardment that killed dozens of Palestinians and forced thousands of others to flee. But when Israeli forces began an assault on Khan Younis in early December, those living there were forced to seek refuge further south. Teams working for Gaza’s civil defense directorate recovered 42 bodies in the Bani Suheila area after the Israeli military withdrawal, the organization said on Tuesday. ET) on Tuesday, it had recorded the deaths of 290 Palestinians in eastern Khan Younis and the wounding of more than 700 others since July 22.

Both of these lawmakers have two things in common: they are among those being considered to be Vice President Harris' running mate and can help raise a boatload of money for her heading into November. Trump is raising big moneyDespite Harris' momentum, Trump is still raising a lot of money. The Harris campaign figures cannot be independently verified either, until Aug. 20, when her campaign disclose its financials. "Vice President Harris has directed her team to begin the process of vetting potential running mates," the Harris campaign said in response to a request for comment. Shapiro is one of the more moderate contenders to be Harris' running mate.

Dianne Schwartz, an 80-year-old Chicagoan who listens to political podcasts while she exercises, felt something today. “I realized today, while I was listening to my podcasts, that I spent the last few days without worrying and being depressed,” Schwartz told me. But since President Biden bowed out of his tepid re-election campaign on Sunday, and his party instantaneously coalesced behind Vice President Kamala Harris, Schwartz has found herself feeling strangely, impossibly good about politics. “I haven’t been this excited about an election,” Schwartz said, “since Kennedy.”Call it the Kamala Harris vibe shift. A presidential race that felt to many Democrats like a dispiriting slog toward an all-but-certain defeat by Trump suddenly feels lighter.

Trump, the Republican nominee for president, has raised more than $4 million from a mix of digital tokens, a campaign aide told CNBC. At least 19 donors contributed more than $2.15 million bitcoin to the committee, the filing shows. Brian Hughes, a Trump campaign aide, said that of the more than $4 million in crypto raised, most of it arrived in bitcoin. "While the Biden-Harris Administration stifles innovation with more regulation and higher taxes, President Trump is ready to encourage American leadership in this and other emerging technologies." Thus far, it appears the Trump campaign is mostly converting these contributions immediately to USDC and then liquidating the donations.

Harris is 59 and was born October 20, 1964 — putting her just weeks outside the Gen X range which is generally thought to span 1965 to the early 1980s. His successor has not been confirmed, but one name being floated is his Gen X lieutenant Stephanie Pope. Could the House of Mouse soon have its first Gen X leader? The picture is not completely clear on how Gen X bosses differ from their predecessors on issues such as remote work and the role of AI in the workplace. As of late Monday, there did not appear to be any potentially serious challengers for the Democratic nomination who had not already endorsed Harris. On the contrary, Democratic governors and senators and House members have been lining up to endorse Harris, instead of waiting to see whether any potential alternatives emerge. The refusal by Democrats to entertain these calls from donors who want to slow down the nomination process is a sharp contrast to how many donors successfully lobbied lawmakers to call on Biden to drop out of the race. Despite a few big donors pushing for a pause on the process, the Democratic party on Monday was full steam ahead with its new frontrunner. Gretchen Whitmer — all of whom are now contenders in the veepstakes to become Harris' running mate.
