Bloom Energy is an up-and-coming artificial intelligence play, according to Morgan Stanley. Analyst Andrew Percoco reiterated his overweight rating on San Jose-based Bloom Energy after it announced a strategic partnership on Tuesday with Nvidia-backed GPU cloud provider CoreWeave. Under the agreement, Bloom Energy will deploy its solid oxide fuel cells to generate power for CoreWeave's data center in Illinois. The analyst's $22 price target implies shares of Bloom Energy can jump nearly 44% from its latest closing price. Bloom Energy and e-commerce giant Amazon last week entered into an agreement with Silicon Valley Power to deploy 20 megawatts of fuel cells for an Amazon data center, Percoco noted.

It’s been the hottest summer on record to date for around 100 US cities from Maine to California. Nine were over the age of 65, the county medical examiner told CNN. At least 10 suspected heat deaths are being reported in Oregon. The region is still typically quite hot in July even without heat reaching record levels daily.

CNN —A Palestinian-American engineer has sued the social media giant Meta, accusing his former employer of discriminating against pro-Palestinian speech on its platforms and of wrongfully firing him after he investigated the issue as part of his official duties. “The employee was dismissed for violating Meta’s data access policies, which we make clear to employees will result in immediate termination,” Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said in a statement to CNN. When Hamad flagged the matter late last year to colleagues within the same team, he allegedly began to receive communications from Meta employees outside of the team pressuring him to drop the investigation. The firing took place against the backdrop of other examples of company bias against pro-Palestinian speech, Hamad alleges. The lawsuit also cites a December 2023 report by Human Rights Watch documenting claims that Meta unreasonably suppressed peaceful pro-Palestinian speech.

CNN —A growing grass fire that began Saturday afternoon in San Joaquin County, California, has consumed 14,000 acres, forcing residents in its path to evacuate the area, officials say. The Corral Fire began in the City of Tracy around 2:30 p.m., according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. “Areas west of the California Aqueduct, South of Corral Hollow Creek, West to Alameda County and South to Stanislaus County should leave now,” the county said Saturday. A resident evacuates his horse as the Corral Fire bears down on ranches west of Tracy, California, on June 1, 2024. A fast-spreading wildfire east of San Francisco has burned through more than 12,000 acres, shut down major highways and prompted evacuation orders for nearby residents, according to public safety alerts and Cal Fire, California’s firefighting agency. The blaze, named the Corral Fire, began Saturday afternoon outside Tracy, Calif., and was only 13 percent contained early Sunday, Cal Fire said. The fire is the largest so far in this year’s California wildfire season, which typically runs from April to October. After an unusually wet winter that included heavy snowfall and significant rainfall, experts expect the spring and summer seasons to stay relatively mild. Still, California fire officials warned last week that an abundance of dry grass in the San Francisco and Modesto areas was creating a greater fire hazard as summer neared.
