Unlike younger generations, who until recently may have taken federal abortion protections for granted, older women recall the era of illegal backroom abortions that preceded Roe. A fight for the senior voteNot all older women are motivated by abortion. But in a race that is expected to be decided on the margins, boosting support among women and older voters could make a difference. In states where tensions have long boiled over reproductive rights, family planning experts say women face mounting barriers to getting birth control. In June, Senate Republicans blocked a bill that would have enshrined a national right to birth control into law. States have been left to decide if they will protect access to birth control. The Right Time initiative is part of Michelle Trupiano's work at Missouri Family Health Council that reduces costs and helps Missourians to obtain birth control. She works at a family planning clinic that is benefiting from Title X funding, which means right now, uninsured patients can get birth control through the clinic.

After Harris became the nominee, support from Asian American women jumped to 72%. Support from Asian American men also increased, but not as drastically, sitting now at 59%. Though not nearly as strong as Harris’ pull on Asian women, there are factors that might be siphoning Asian men, Ramakrishnan said. Trump has made marginal gains among Asian men too, he said, but Harris’ draw on both groups far outweighs it. “AAPI women and South Asian women view abortion access as health care,” said Varun Nikore, executive director of the nonprofit AAPI Victory Alliance.

I do think that seeing a woman on the ballot will, hopefully, encourage more women to vote, even if they don't vote for Harris. At the time, I thought it was going to be a landslide, like 'We're about to have our first woman president.' I don't think everybody in the U.S. will ever be ready for a woman president, but I don't think everybody in the U.S. was ready for a Black president either. Even if Kamala wins, I don't think everybody in the U.S. is ready for a woman president, just like they weren't ready for a Black president. I think Harris is just bringing a lot of new people into the process who haven't necessarily felt included before.

Groups in favor of the ballot measure are making a final push as early voting is underway, with hundreds of thousands of ballots already cast. While some states, like California and Vermont, passed abortion rights ballot measures by well over 60%, in other states, such as Michigan and Ohio, they passed by about 56%. Jeanette Nuñez, who opposes the ballot measure, accused the abortion rights ads of being deceptive. From 2008 through 2020, the winning candidate either swept or nearly swept the final six to eight battleground states. Are we still under-sampling Trump voters? Then again, is Trump’s improvement in the polls this cycle an indication the polling community finally got it right on the Trump vote? In 2020, the Trump campaign was the only one knocking on doors during Covid, as the Biden campaign feared scaring its supporters at the doors. CNN —Democrats are mounting an unprecedented digital advertising campaign in the closing weeks of the presidential race, pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into a targeted effort that the party hopes will tip the balance in one of the closest elections in US history. The effort is being steered by Future Forward PAC, or FF PAC, the largest single-candidate super PAC in the 2024 election. The 2024 election is poised to break the record set by the 2020 election and see $10.2 billion worth of campaign advertising, according to the ad tracking firm AdImpact.
