This spring, the company unveiled plans for Pagani Residences, a 70-unit condo development in Miami's North Bay Village. Beyond automakers, there's a growing list of luxury brands hoping to use real estate to turn their cultural cachet into cold, hard cash. New York's five-star Sherry-Netherland Hotel began welcoming long-term residents almost a century ago, and since then roughly 700 branded residences have graced skylines around the world. CNN —The Russian border region of Belgorod declared an emergency on Wednesday after new attacks by Ukrainian forces, with Kyiv claiming control of hundreds of square miles of Russian territory after its rare cross-border incursion. “The situation in the Belgorod region continues to be extremely difficult and tense,” Belgorod Gov. The declaration came after Belgorod began evacuations on Monday as a result of Ukrainian advances, following Kyiv’s surprise incursion into the neighboring Kursk region last week. It was a notable change in tactics for Ukraine and marked the first time foreign troops had entered Russian territory since World War II. Two locations in Belgorod, the city of Shebekino and the village of Ustinka, had been attacked by Ukrainian drones, he added.

In neighboring Xinjiang and Yunnan, The Times identified six new and 59 expanded border villages. The plane crashed in the yard of a home, but it did not hit any residences and no injuries were reported among people on the ground, officials said. Here is what we know about the crash:The plane was on its way to São Paulo. It was headed east to Guarulhos airport, just outside São Paulo. “This was one of Birmingham’s white-whale buildings,” Mr. Flachsbart said of a former Red Cross office that had been renovated into 192 rental residences. (“One of the greatest programs ever for Black workers and Black entrepreneurs,” he called the incentive in an appearance this week at a National Association of Black Journalists conference.) But the relatively low-income areas covered by the incentive, known as opportunity zones, didn’t benefit equally. On Mr. Flachsbart’s tour of new projects in downtown Birmingham, the stops dry up in the historically African American northwest quadrant. There, developable lots and vacant buildings haven’t received as much of the capital flowing toward the buzzier parts of downtown.

At a time when China's economy is facing headwinds, and growth has been slowing, where are the Chinese ultra-rich, whose numbers are expected to swell to 144,897 by 2028 from 98,551 in 2023, parking their wealth? However, the country's high-end property market remains a favored asset. Luxury real estate"There has been a noticeable increase in transactions within Shanghai's luxury real estate sector," said James Macdonald, head of China research at global real estate firm Savills, attributing it to a recent policy easing by the government. That said, China's luxury real estate market is still primarily concentrated in the core areas of first-tier cities, said Li. Other local investment classes, such as the wider property market and China-listed stocks are not as popular among the ultra rich, experts told CNBC.

Now, newer offerings allow homeowners to rent out portions of their homes on an even shorter-term basis, often by the hour. One of these platforms is Swimply, an online marketplace for private pool rentals that launched in 2020, just as the pandemic halted travel and more people looked to get their kicks locally. Peer-to-peer rental marketplaces of all kinds have popped up: RentMyCourt (private tennis and pickleball court rentals), SniffSpot (backyard rentals for dogs), CurbFlip (driveway and parking space rentals) and Vanly (driveway and shower rentals for people traveling in camper vans or RVs). Younger homebuyers are keenly aware of the opportunity to offset their expenses with extra cash. While the extra income is a focus for many homeowners, some participating in this budding industry say they’ve found something unexpected: community.

The French capital had the fastest-growing short-term rental market in the EU over the last year, according to Lighthouse, a firm that analyzes the hotel market. The super-rich have a very different mindset toward investing than the average person, wealth manager Robert Fraser says. Fraser named real estate as another asset class the ultra-rich like, with many owning properties and earning rental income. "Billionaires love real estate — it brings benefits to owners like growth through inflation, depreciation, tax-deferral and long-term capital gains," Fraser added. He suggests that the remaining funds be channeled into real estate — starting with single family residences and eventually diversifying into industrial properties, multi-family residences and retail real estate. "It is good for the average investors regardless of whether they are accredited to be in real estate.
