CNN —Amnesty International has urged FIFA to halt the process of awarding Saudi Arabia the 2034 World Cup until major human rights reforms are announced. “FIFA is implementing thorough bidding processes for the 2030 and 2034 editions of the FIFA World Cup, in line with previous processes for the selection of hosts for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand, the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States, Mexico and Canada and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in Brazil,” a FIFA spokesperson told CNN. AJ Eckstein left a stable consulting job to launch Creator Match, seeking more control of his career. After long days, I'd return to my apartment and dedicate myself to case prep to pursue a consulting career. I was doing my own Creator brand deals on LinkedIn and starting to help Creator friends monetize their brands, which is how the idea for my company, Creator Match, was born. Leaving felt like getting divorced from someone I admired and respected. AdvertisementI reminded myself that I wasn't leaving him — I was leaving the company to pursue a dream.

CEO Sam Altman explained the company's shift to closed AI models in a Reddit AMA on Thursday. AdvertisementWhy doesn't OpenAI open-source the AI models behind ChatGPT if the company is called OpenAI? Altman responded that open source "plays an important role in the ecosystem and there are great open source models in the world." The comments from Altman follow a year in which OpenAI has received criticism for no longer open-sourcing its AI models. "There is no single open source AI definition, and defining it is a challenge because previous open source definitions do not encompass the complexities of today's rapidly advancing AI models," the spokesperson said.

The team of two men and one woman will replace the astronauts who have lived on the Tiangong space station for the last six months, conducting a variety of experiments and maintaining the structure. China built its own space station after being excluded from the International Space Station, mainly because of U.S. concerns over the overall control over the space program by the People’s Liberation Army, the Chinese Communist Party’s military arm. China’s moon program is part of a growing rivalry with the U.S. and others, including Japan and India. Besides putting a space station into orbit, the Chinese space agency has landed an explorer on Mars. China’s space authorities say they have measures in place in case their astronauts have to return to Earth earlier.

Sen. JD Vance on Saturday defended former president Donald Trump's comments calling Democratic leaders "the enemy from within," saying that inflation, slowing military recruitment and the migrant crisis are a "way bigger threat than any foreign threat." These problems, the Ohio Republican told NBC News' "Meet the Press," are "caused by broken leadership." Specifically, Vance mentioned former Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a catalyst for American decline. "Under Nancy Pelosi’s long life in public leadership, the United States has gone from the preeminent industrial power of the world to second, next to China," Vance told moderator Kristen Welker. We can handle foreign conflicts.”Vance's comments follow weeks of Trump asserting that Democrats, as the "enemy from within," are more dangerous to the U.S.' future than foreign adversaries.

Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries and an alleged accomplice pleaded not guilty on Friday to sex trafficking and interstate prostitution charges. Jeffries’ romantic partner, Matthew Smith, who was also arrested on Tuesday on sex trafficking charges, wasn’t at the arraignment. Jeffries, Smith and Jacobson have each been hit with a single count of sex trafficking, as well as 15 counts of interstate prostitution tied to 15 alleged victims. They organized “sex events” in England, France, Italy, Morocco, St. Barts, New York City and the Hamptons for Jeffries, Smith and “others,” according to the indictment. Afterward, it was either Jacobson or the staff members who paid the men for attending the sex events, it says.

CNN —Senior-level personnel changes at the US Secret Service as well as the creation of new divisions are underway as the agency works to resolve security breakdowns that preceded the two attempts on former President Donald Trump’s life this summer. Typically, incoming presidents choose their own Secret Service director, and it’s hard to know whether Vice President Kamala Harris or Trump would retain Rowe. “I’m trying to get programs more closely aligned with the mission, getting them out to the field so that they are directly supporting enforcement operations, major criminal investigations and, of course, protective operations,” Rowe told CNN. Radio calls from local police who saw the shooter on the roof shortly before he opened fire never made it to the Secret Service. CNN has previously reported on the strain inside the Secret Service as the agency dramatically ramps up protection during the final stretch of the campaign season.

It's a dynamic that has forced many election officials out of the industry, while those who remain have taken in some cases dramatic steps to protect poll workers and voters ahead of Election Day. Some poll workers are also receiving pay bumps as incentives to stay on through a stressful voting period. The county allocated money for so-called panic buttons that would allow election workers to quickly contact authorities in emergencies. They decided to give police radios to election workers instead.
