A popular double arch that hung over the turquoise waters of Lake Powell in Utah’s portion of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area collapsed on Thursday, officials said. The National Park Service confirmed the collapse in a statement on Friday, noting that the arch was a frequently visited attraction and had been known to park-goers over the years as the Toilet Bowl, the Crescent Pool, the Hole in the Roof and the Double Arch. The geologic feature was formed from 190 million-year-old Navajo sandstone, park officials said. The elements had eroded away the fine-grained sand structure over the years and caused fragments to break off, officials said.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. acknowledged Sunday that he abandoned a young dead bear in Central Park after he initially planned to skin the cub for meat. Kennedy described driving north of New York City to go falconing with a group when he saw a woman in a van hit and kill a young bear. "It's going to be a bad story," Kennedy predicted in the video as people laughed. A dead bear cub was found in Central Park in 2014, leading to significant media coverage. The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation referred NBC News' request for comment to the New York Police Department, which did not immediately respond.

Since then, I've traveled to all 50 states solo, and although I've found beauty in all corners of the United States, I haven't felt a desire to move anywhere else. I love visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park, which is home to the tallest sand dunes in North America, and Colorado National Monument, which has a Utah-like red-rock canyon landscape. Colorado is home to four major national parks, including Great Sand Dunes. Great Sand Dunes is home to the tallest sand dunes in North America, Black Canyon of the Gunnison has some of North America's steepest cliffs, and Mesa Verde preserves the cliff dwellings and rich history of the Ancestral Puebloan people. “Gen Z boss and a mini”? If you can think of two catchy descriptors that encapsulate your outfit and unique aura, you’ve got enough material to get in on the latest TikTok style trend. Some TikTokers are using the trend to celebrate their own style, their unique shine too bright to share with others in the same video. The brand even capitalized on its viral fame with a “Gen Z boss and a mini” bundle of skin care products. Corporate cringe though it may be, the trend is already paying off for the squad of TikTok-savvy skin care mavens.

Washington CNN —A vast swath of the US economy is showing signs of weakness as unemployment rises to its highest point in more than two years. “When you think of services, a lot of it is driven by the consumer, and consumers are key to where the US economy goes,” James Knightley, chief international economist at ING, told CNN. Consumer spending, which makes up about 70% of the US economy, has already moderated over the past few months, government statistics show, and retailers themselves have said they’ve noticed shoppers across the income spectrum change their purchasing behavior. The bottom 60% of households by income accounted for a larger proportion of spending on health care services. In Caribou, Maine, a town of 7,400, the splash pad was packed with children at noon on Wednesday as temperatures soared. But next to it, at a cooling center for the rural area’s many elderly residents, all the folding chairs were empty, even though three air-conditioners were blasting a frigid breeze. Officials had spread the word across Aroostook County about the cooling center on social media, on radio stations and TV, and in local newspapers. However in Maine, and across wide areas of rural America, the techniques familiar in cities to help people beat the heat are much more difficult to carry out effectively. Large parts of the nation were boiling this week as temperatures climbed in Maine and other areas that are not accustomed to mid-June heat waves.
