People purchasing fruit at an agricultural trade market on May 11, 2024 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province of China. China's consumer prices rose at the slowest pace in four months in October while producer price deflation deepened, data showed on Saturday, even as Beijing doubled down on stimulus to support the sputtering economy. Analysts say the package will likely do little to boost economic activity, demand and prices in the near term. However, core inflation, excluding volatile food and fuel prices, rose 0.2% in October, accelerating from 0.1% in September. China's central bank in late September unveiled the most aggressive monetary support measures since the COVID-19 pandemic to revive economic growth.

Nurphoto | Nurphoto | Getty ImagesDonald Trump's election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris marks a historic return to the White House — an extraordinary political comeback that is likely to have seismic ramifications for the global economy. The former president's litany of campaign pledges include steep tariffs, tax cuts, deregulation and a push to withdraw from key global agreements. Trump's favorite wordTrump has previously described "tariff" as his favorite word, calling it "the most beautiful word in the dictionary." And we don't see Trump's secondary tariff pledge — that baseline tariff, which would hurt European companies — as being all that feasible," Galbraith said. Analysts have warned that Trump's plan to impose universal tariffs are highly likely to raise prices for consumers and slow spending.

The CMSI study makes clear that a US invasion of Taiwan in 1945 — or a Chinese invasion today — would be difficult and risky. Hong Kong CNN —China appears to have built a new and unusual aircraft carrier, intriguing experts with a potentially first-of-its-kind vessel that could further increase Beijing’s rapidly expanding maritime power. This potential new aircraft carrier “is of a somewhat unusual shape and size – much smaller than China’s previous naval aircraft carriers,” said Thomas Shugart, a former US Navy submarine commander and now a fellow at the Center for a New American Security. Another view of the satellite imagery captured on October 23, 2024, showing a potentially new class of a Chinese aircraft carrier at a shipyard in the southeastern end of the country. Only the United States Navy operates aircraft carriers bigger than the Fujian. Conducted in the South China Sea, the exercise was “aiming to enhance the integrated combat capability of the aircraft carrier formations” and was “part of the Liaoning aircraft carrier formation’s regular real-combat training in the high seas,” Xinhua said.
