Almost 1 in 5, 18%, of people tip less than 15% for an average meal at a sit-down restaurant — and an additional 2% tip nothing at all, according to a Pew Research Center survey, which polled 11,945 U.S. adults. More than a third, 37%, said 15% is their standard tip. "That did surprise me," Drew DeSilver, co-author of the study, said of finding that more than half of people, 57%, tip 15% or less. CNN —The connections people experience with their loved ones don’t necessarily end after death, a recent Pew Research Center survey’s results suggest. Just over half of 5,079 surveyed American adults – 53% – reported ever having been visited by a dead relative in dreams “or some other form,” according to the survey results released Wednesday. The center conducted the survey among its American Trends Panel members between March 27 and April 2. The survey included responses from “Americans of all religious backgrounds,” including Buddhists, Jews and Muslims, the center said. Women – 41% – were also more likely than men – 27% – to report recently feeling the presence of a dead relative, the survey found.

When I’m around young adults I like to ask them how they are thinking about the big commitments in their lives: what career to go into, where to live, whom to marry. Most of them have thought a lot about their career plans. But my impression is that many have not thought a lot about how marriage will fit into their lives. In 2006, 50 percent of young adults said it was very important for a couple to marry if they intended to spend the rest of their lives together. But by 2020 only 29 percent of young adults said that.

Apartment developers are building out private offices, conference rooms and even podcasting booths to capitalize on a lingering work-from-home trend. "A coworking space was actually the top of my list when I was touring," said Lauren Wells, a fashion designer and a resident at 420 Kent in Williamsburg. "When I need to meet with a customer for work, I can just bring up some of my work create a little space up there." A Pew Research Center analysis highlights the degree to which jobs, industries, and workers might be exposed to AI. More exposure for jobs means AI "can either perform their most important activities entirely or help with them" per the report. This was used to figure out the degree in which different kinds of activities and jobs are exposed to artificial intelligence. Overall, almost a quarter of US workers were in the least exposed jobs in 2022 per the report. That's slightly higher than the 19% of workers in jobs that are considered most exposed to AI.

In an open-ended question, Americans were asked to name any country as the greatest threat to the U.S. — 50% named China. While it's difficult to compare responses from year to year, Pew noted that "Americans have not always seen China as the top threat to the United States." "When we last asked a question of this sort in 2019, equal shares of Americans pointed to China and Russia as the greatest threat facing their country," it said. The survey reflects Americans' view of China have become more negative over time — particularly since 2020, added Pew.
