CNN —A Nepalese teenager has become the youngest person to summit the world’s 14 highest peaks. Nima started his epic journey in September 2022 when he climbed Nepal’s 8,163m Manaslu. Over the next two years, he summited all of the “8000ers” including Everest, the world’s highest mountain at 8,848.86m, and the notoriously dangerous K2 at 8,611m. Nima took to Instagram to commemorate the completion of the grueling challenge, writing: “I dedicate this world record to my project, #SherpaPower. CNN —A recently discovered comet, known as C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan–ATLAS, will make its closest approach of Earth on Saturday. Sky-gazers won’t want to miss the event since it may be the last time the comet will be seen in the night sky for another 80,000 years. It will just appear to hang there, and it will slowly change position from night to night,” Cooke said. C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan–ATLAS appears brighter in an image taken by the Virtual Telescope Project three days after the comet reached its perihelion. “For many people, and especially children, seeing a bright comet in the night sky is a beautiful and life-changing experience,” Kareta said.

But it doesn’t mean that scientists aren’t interested in bringing the past back to life in some form. Dig thisThe tree, which the study authors believe may have a biblical connection, is seen at 12 years old. Remarkably, the tree thrived and now stands 10 feet (3 meters) tall, although it has never flowered or produced fruit. Using DNA sequencing, the researchers identified the mystery tree as part of the Commiphora genus, but its exact species is unknown and likely extinct. Scientists aim to extract DNA from the remains to learn more about those buried there and whether they were related.

For many with allergies, fall is peak season that’s now probably compounded by a warming planet. Allergy season is starting earlier and lasting longer, which scientists attribute to a variety of causes, including the climate crisis. With respiratory viruses also prevalent in colder weather, how can people distinguish between seasonal allergies and a virus? Common symptoms of fall allergies can include a runny or stuffy nose as well as sniffling, sneezing, watery eyes and coughing. Ragweed season typically begins in August and peaks in September but can last into November.

This process, known as river piracy, set in motion a chain of geological events that reshaped the landscape, scientists reported Monday in the journal Nature Geoscience. While some instances of river capture and landscape remodeling began millions of years ago, others are happening today, she added. Evidence of one ancient example still exists around the edges of the Himalayas, where long-ago river capture eroded deep gorges. Han’s simulations suggested that river capture would have dramatically increased the flow of water in the Kosi’s lower segments. Compared with river piracy, erosion and uplift unspool over a much longer time span — and are still happening with Everest, Lhotse and Makalu.

The first piece of evidence Hussman cites is valuation, specifically the total market cap of non-financial stocks to total value added of those stocks. He predicted in 2000 that the S&P 500 would likely see negative total returns over the following decade, which it did. He predicted in April 2007 that the S&P 500 could lose 40%, then it lost 55% in the subsequent collapse from 2007 to 2009. The S&P 500, by comparison, is up about 32% over the past year.

The secular bull market, which began in 2009, is in a mature stage according to NDR's Tim Hayes. "With the secular bull mature, we're watching out for signs that it may be at risk," he said. AdvertisementWith the S&P 500 in its 15th year of a secular bull market that started in 2009, Ned Davis Research says investors should watch for warning signs of a potential peak. The first warning sign of a near-term peak in the stock market is worsening breadth among the underlying issues of the US stock market. And a rebound in inflation, coupled with rising interest rates, would be an unwelcome warning sign for the current bull rally in stocks.

The Australian and New Zealand dollars scaled multi-month peaks on Wednesday while sterling hit its highest in more than two years against a weaker dollar, as China's aggressive stimulus package provided the latest shot in the arm for risk appetite. Data on Tuesday showed U.S. consumer confidence unexpectedly fell in September, amid mounting worries over the health of the labor market. Against a basket of currencies, the dollar last stood at 100.28, languishing near a more than one-year low of 100.21.
