Tito Jackson, an original member of the hit-making pop group the Jackson 5, has died, his family confirmed Monday. NBC Los Angeles spoke to a family member who confirmed the death. Jackson was a founding member of the group of five brothers, along with Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael, who shot to fame in the late 1960s and 1970s with a string of hits. LONDON — Two alleged art thieves will appear in court in London next month accused of stealing “Girl With Balloon,” a famous painting by the mysterious British street artist Banksy. Larry Fraser, 47, from east London, and James Love, 53, from Essex, were both charged with non-residential burglary and placed in police custody on Thursday. The artwork — which shows a little girl letting go of, or perhaps reaching out for, a heart-shaped balloon — was stolen from a gallery in central London on Sept. 8 at 11:00 p.m, police said. The painting was the only item stolen and police said it had been recovered and would be returned to the gallery. The latest artworks from Banksy were a series of animal paintings dotted around London last month.

Mandatory evacuations were ordered for communities across San Bernardino County, east of Los Angeles, as the so-called Line Fire raged through woodland and burned through more than 23,700 acres by Monday night. A man has been arrested on suspicion of concealing a dead body four weeks after his wife went missing, authorities in Virginia said Thursday. Manassas Park Police Chief Mario Luge confirmed in a statement that Naresh Bhatt was arrested on the felony charge of concealment of a dead body. Authorities have not confirmed that a body has been found, just that Naresh Bhatt may have somehow concealed one. Mamta Kafle Bhatt. Naresh Bhatt is being held without bond and is due to appear in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Friday morning.

A 57-year-old man died from heat exposure after walking in Death Valley National Park, authorities confirmed Monday, making it the second heat-related death in the area this summer. Peter Hayes Robino, from Los Angeles County, drove his car off a steep embankment after taking a one-mile circular walk on Aug. 1, the National Park Service said in a statement. A motorcyclist was declared dead from suspected heat exposure in Death Valley in July, while another was hospitalized for severe heat illness. Another tourist was treated in a local hospital for third degree burns he received to his feet last month at Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, also in the national park. Park rangers in Death Valley National Park advise visitors to stay in or near air-conditioning where possible, to not hike after 10 a.m. in low elevations, to drink lots of water and avoid salty snacks.

PARIS — Rapper Travis Scott has been arrested following an alleged fight involving a security guard and his own bodyguard at a luxury hotel in central Paris, French authorities said on Friday. "I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard," the Paris prosecutor's officer said in a statement. "The security guard had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The George V hotel, near Paris's famous Champs-Élysées and with views of the Eiffel Tower, boasts multiple Michelin-starred restaurants. Scott was arrested in June on a disorderly intoxication charge after he allegedly yelled at people on a yacht in Miami Beach, Florida.
