Four teenagers accused of fatally beating a classmate last year in Las Vegas have agreed to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter, which will keep them from being tried as adults, attorneys confirmed Thursday. Attorney Robert Draskovich represents one of the four teens charged in the beating. And it's an even more unfortunate setback because Ford management said on its April earnings call that the company has made "real progress" on its goal of making better vehicles. The best story at Ford remains Ford Pro , the unit that houses the company's fleet and commercial vehicles. But last quarter management said the business was tracking toward the higher end of the range, and that no longer appears to be the case. LONDON — European markets are set to open lower on Wednesday as earnings season ramps up. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 was last expected to open 25 points lower at 8,137, while Germany's DAX was set to shed 76 points to 18,472 and France's CAC 40 was expected to open 54 points lower at 7,540. Italy's MIB index was set to to open 62 points lower at 34,799. Deutsche Bank , UniCredit, BNP Paribas and Banco Santander are among the European banks reporting earnings on Wednesday, alongside Easyjet , Iberdrola and Orange. On the data front, flash purchasing managers' index data is due to be released in the U.K. and the euro zone.

I’m still waiting to wake up and realize that it was all a dream: the debate, the attempted assassination, President Biden’s Rehoboth reckoning, the quicksilver ascent of Vice President Kamala Harris. I have teachers texting and calling me from out of state who have never donated to a political candidate asking how to do it the right way to ensure it gets to the Harris campaign. It feels very “hopey changey.” I tuned in (along with hundreds of thousands of others) to watch Harris speak to the staff at campaign headquarters and walked away inspired. The transition from Biden to Harris has been remarkably seamless and successful. Her initial remarks on Monday were strong, powerful and clearly her own words, not things cribbed from the previous campaign.
