  + stars: | 2023-10-16 | by ( Scottie Andrew | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +1 min
It was more of the same, save for two major changes: the voices of Rick and Morty themselves. Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden provide the new voices of Rick and Morty, respectively. They replace Justin Roiland, series co-creator and voice of both Rick and Morty (as well as several supporting characters), who departed the show in January following since-dropped charges of domestic violence. Adult Swim didn’t reveal the new actors’ identities until minutes into Sunday’s episode. “Rick and Morty” has been a mega-hit for Adult Swim over its acclaimed run, which began in 2013.

OpenAI's ChatGPT will 'see, hear and speak' in major update

REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 25 (Reuters) - OpenAI's ChatGPT is getting a major update that will enable the viral chatbot to have voice conversations with users and interact using images, moving it closer to popular artificial intelligence (AI) assistants like Apple's (AAPL.O) Siri. The voice feature "opens doors to many creative and accessibility-focused applications", OpenAI said in a blog post on Monday. ChatGPT's new voice feature can also narrate bedtime stories, settle debates at the dinner table, and speak out loud text input from users. Alphabet's Google Lens is currently the popular choice to gain information on images. The new ChatGPT features will be released for subscribers of its Plus and Enterprise plans over the next two weeks.

CNN —You can now speak aloud to ChatGPT and hear the artificial intelligence-powered chatbot talk back. OpenAI, the startup behind the wildly-popular chatbot, announced Monday that it is rolling out new features including the ability to let users engage in a back-and-forth voice conversation with ChatGPT. The updates from OpenAI come amid an ongoing AI arms race within the tech sector, initially spurred by the public launch of ChatGPT late last year. Google last week announced a series of updates to its ChatGPT competitor Bard. Also last week, Amazon said it was bringing a generative AI-powered update to its Alexa voice assistant.

OpenAI is introducing a new feature that gives the chatbot a voice to respond to you with audio. "Voice chat was created with voice actors we have directly worked with. The bid to make chatbots more human-like comes as companies seek to transform generative AI technology into useful tools that act as personal assistants for users. ChatGPT will also have a new feature that allows it to "see," with users able to show ChatGPT what they're talking about by showing them images. "Voice and image give you more ways to use ChatGPT in your life," OpenAI said.

A Ukrainian company said it made jamming-resistant drones and handed the first 15 to the military. But Russian jamming has made many inoperable and forced operators to get closer to the front lines. These latest drones are upgraded versions of the existing Punisher drone, the company said, which has been used to complete scores of successful missions against Russian forces. Yarema, a Ukrainian soldier helping with the Punisher drone effort, told The New Voice of Ukraine that "the most important thing is that the innovative system is resistant to electronic warfare." One Ukrainian drone operator told the BBC that this has meant they have to move closer to the front lines, putting lives in danger.

While Woody Allen's film may be a reference point to “American Fiction,” direct comparisons are harder to come by for such a breezy but biting commentary. Directing a film, Jefferson says, wasn't necessarily a lifelong ambition. That “American Fiction” is hard to categorize, he says, might mean he's on the right track. “This being my first movie, I’m eager to find what my voice is,” Jefferson says. ___Follow AP Film Writer Jake Coyle on Twitter at: http://twitter.com/jakecoyleAP

Through the 1970s and much of the 1980s, Kira Muratova’s stirring films “Brief Encounters” and “The Long Farewell” went unseen, banned by the Soviet Union. “The Long Farewell” provoked such outrage from censors that Muratova, then a new voice in cinema, was stripped of her film degree and prohibited from filmmaking for years. The female characters pine, ache and, amplified by the dramas surrounding them, seem to scream: Life is hard! “Brief Encounters,” from 1967 and my favorite of the pair, is an audacious portrait of two women on the cultural fringes pining after the same man. Photos show a Russian Tupolev Tu-22M3 bomber destroyed at a base deep inside Russia, the BBC reported. The UK MOD said the attack likely came from within Russia as the drone could not fly all the way from Ukraine. UK intelligence analysts concluded that the type of drone, paired with the location, meant the attack likely originated from hostile units within Russia itself. The aircraft type has been used by frequently Russia to attack Ukrainian cities, the BBC and the UK Ministry of Defense said. Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, a small number of attacks have taken place inside Russia.

A Turkish passenger plane flew through Ukrainian airspace on July 25 for several hours. The airline — a new Turkish company called BBN — said the pilots were avoiding a storm. The plane, an Airbus A320-200 operated by Turkish company BBN Airlines, was flying from Oslo, Norway to Antalya, Turkey on July 25. Ukraine closed its airspace when Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, forbidding civilian aircraft to enter. The area the plane flew has not seen heavy fighting, which has been concentrated hundreds of miles to the east.

A Ukrainian official said Russia used "chemical aerosol munition with suffocating effect" on troops. Shershen said the chemical used was a banned one, but he did not give further details. Shershen did not identify the gas, nor say if any Ukrainian or Russian troops were affected. Marinka, which is around 80 miles from Bakhmut, has been the scene of intense fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces, and photos published in March show it has largely been reduced to a wasteland. But in his comments, Shershen said that Ukrainian forces are still fighting there, as the country tries to push back against Russia with its long-awaited counteroffensive.
