The foul was not given by on-field referee Taylor, and Spurs scored a last-gasp equaliser during the resulting play. Dean said later he did not want to send Taylor to the VAR screen to view the incident as he was a "mate" and wanted to spare him "more grief". "It has all been blown out of context. A product of Southampton's academy, Walcott joined Arsenal at the age of 16 in 2006 and scored 108 goals in 397 appearances. Walcott, who has been capped 47 times, joined Everton in 2018 before returning to Southampton on loan in the 2020–21 season and making the move permanent. The support shown to me throughout this time has been incredible in every way imaginable, and I am truly grateful. Aug 17 (Reuters) - Japanese superbike rider Haruki Noguchi has died aged 22, following critical injuries suffered in a crash last weekend during the fourth round of the Asia Road Championship in Indonesia, organisers said on Thursday. The SDG Honda Racing rider, who finished third at the Suzuka-8 Hours this month, was treated for his injuries at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit's medical centre. Noguchi had been in intensive treatment for three days at a hospital in Indonesia's eastern region of Nusa Tenggara. The Asia Superbike 1000cc race was cancelled after the incident at Turn 10. Noguchi broke into the motorcycling scene with his 2021 win in the Superstock 600 category at the All Japan Road Racing Championships.

July 24 (Reuters) - Former England forward Trevor Francis, Britain's first one million pound ($1.28 million) player, has died at the age of 69 after suffering a heart attack, his family said on Monday. "Trevor Francis has died at the age of 69. Francis won the European Cup in 1979 and 1980 and the European Super Cup in 1979 with Forest under Brian Clough. WARSAW, July 22 (Reuters) - Russian tennis player Vera Zvonareva was blocked from entering Poland for reasons of state security and public safety, the Polish interior ministry said on Saturday. "The Border Guard prevented a Russian tennis player from entering Poland. Vera Zvonareva, using a visa issued by France, tried to get into our country on a flight from Belgrade to Warsaw," the ministry said in a statement. Zvonareva, who landed in Poland on Friday, is on a list of people considered undesirable there, the ministry said. "After arriving from Serbia, the tennis player stayed in the transit zone of Warsaw Chopin Airport and today after 1200 she flew to Podgorica."

July 20 (Reuters) - Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been named as the new captain of Manchester United, the Premier League club said on Thursday. The 28-year-old will replace defender Harry Maguire, who was stripped of the team captaincy by manager Erik ten Hag after the England international failed to secure a place in the first team. Fernandes drew criticism for his petulant performance in the 7-0 loss to rivals Liverpool in March. United will be back in action in next season's Champions League after failing to qualify for the tournament in the 2021-22 campaign. July 18 (Reuters) - Edwin van der Sar is out of intensive care but remains in hospital after a brain bleed earlier this month, the former Manchester United goalkeeper announced on Tuesday. The 52-year-old former Netherlands international was moved to a Dutch hospital but remained in intensive care, his wife Annemarie said last week. Van der Sar was initially admitted to a Split hospital while on holiday in Croatia. "First of all, we want to thank everyone for all the great and supportive messages," Van der Sar said in a post on Twitter. "I'm happy to share that I'm no longer in the intensive care unit.
