Increased availability of advanced chips has made parallel computing more accessible. By and large, they were nerding out on the possibilities of parallel computing. That speed comes from the parallel computing that the GPU enables. AdvertisementThe concept has been around since the 1980s, but until relatively recently, the capability to actually perform parallel computing was hard to access. This immense volume of computations is what has driven so much demand for Nvidia GPUs.

CoreWeave, a startup that rents out Nvidia's artificial intelligence chips to other companies, said Wednesday that it closed a $650 million secondary share sale, with Cisco and Pure Storage investing alongside financial institutions. Bloomberg reported last month that CoreWeave was targeting a $23 billion valuation for the deal, up from $19 billion in a $1.1 billion investment round announced in May. CoreWeave is going head-to-head with large cloud infrastructure providers, such as Amazon and Google in providing Nvidia's graphics processing units, or GPUs, to companies for AI workloads. The following month Nvidia said its H200 GPUs had become available through CoreWeave, meaning the startup was the first cloud provider to reach general availability with the graphics cards. In addition to Cisco and Pure, investment firms including BlackRock , Coatue and Fidelity participated in CoreWeave's secondary sale.

AWS is negotiating a potential $475 million AI cloud deal with IBM. Under such a deal, IBM would use AWS's EC2 servers that come equipped with Nvidia's AI chips, the document stated. The negotiations also highlight continued demand for Nvidia GPUs. Efforts here have been mixed so far, and it's unclear if an IBM deal would include access to these homegrown Amazon components. Nvidia 's still in early growth stages as artificial intelligence capabilities continue to progress, according to Redburn Atlantic. Analyst Timm Schulze-Melander initiated the stock with a buy rating and a price target of $178, which implies upside of 22.5%. Looking ahead, the analyst sees the AI powerhouse boasting 65% EBIT margin expansion and compound annual earnings growth of 38% between 2024 and 2030. The first growth driver is in accelerated computing, which aims to make AI data processing more efficient, Schulze-Melander said. The second factor behind Nvidia's growth case is the market's underestimation of demand for the company's products and services — even as rivals try to curb the chipmaker's dominance.

Bank of America's global fund manager survey showed the percentage of portfolio managers who are overweight U.S. stocks soared to 29% — its highest level since August 2013 — from 10% before the U.S. presidential election. Lebaredian is vice president of omniverse and simulation technology at Nvidia, reporting directly to CEO Jensen Huang. "AI is essentially bridging this computing to physical world divide, and that essentially is robotics," Lebaredian told Business Insider. The Nvidia veteran is building a virtual world faithful to the real world so that robots can use it to practice tasks and learn. "The key here is that the simulation that we use has to match the real world as closely as possible so that what it learns inside that virtual world is transferable to the real world. If it learns inside a cartoon world with cartoon physics, it's not going to behave properly when it gets into the real world," he said.
