CNN —Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was ejected late in the fourth quarter of her team’s 88-75 defeat by the New York Liberty on Tuesday after receiving back-to-back technical fouls. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball seemingly offered to pay Reese’s fine. “Ref that threw out @Reese10Angel is weak btw… You know who you are (Keep ya money Angel I got you),” Ball wrote on X. CNN —Former NBA champion Glen Davis has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his part in a scheme to defraud the league’s health care plan out of millions of dollars, according to federal court records from the Southern District of New York. Davis – whose nickname while he played in the NBA was “Big Baby” – was also ordered to pay $80,000 in restitution, according to court documents. In November, Davis was found guilty of wire fraud, health care fraud, conspiracy to commit health care fraud and conspiracy to make false statements related to health care matters, court documents show. Williams, who has been called the “leader of the conspiracy” by prosecutors, pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit health care fraud and wire fraud in 2022, according to a judgment order. The scheme, Strauss said, began around November 2017.

On Monday, the University of Connecticut’s victory over Purdue in the men’s final drew 14.8 million viewers, Nielsen said. That was up a smidge from the 14.7 million who watched last year’s men’s championship game, but fell 4 million viewers short of the women’s final. To put the women’s championship game viewership in perspective, it outrated every 2023 World Series game and every NBA finals game from last year, according to Nielsen. Oh, yeah, and in the men’s college basketball final Monday, UConn won its second-straight championship, beating the Boilermakers, who were in their first final since 1969.

(AP) — A top Democratic Virginia lawmaker vowed Wednesday to keep language enabling a proposed relocation by the NBA’s Washington Wizards and NHL’s Washington Capitals to Alexandria out of the state budget lawmakers will take up later this week. Glenn Youngkin's plan to lure the teams across the Potomac River with a $2 billion development district featuring a new arena. Moving forward, if the arena is excluded from the budget, Youngkin has a few options. Virginia governors have the ability to seek amendments to legislation, so he could attempt to put the arena language back in the budget. Democrats, who control both General Assembly chambers, could lose Youngkin’s support for some of their own priorities if they kill the arena deal.
