Investigators said they haven’t yet figured out what caused the apparent leak of carbon monoxide from the propane gas heating system. New Hampshire Fire Marshal Sean Toomey said there were no carbon monoxide alarms found in the home, and he urged people to install and maintain such alarms. “This has been a terribly tragic year for both fire deaths and carbon monoxide deaths,” Toomey said. The CDC said more than 400 Americans die each year from unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning not linked to fires, while another 14,000 are hospitalized. When fire crews arrived, they found the home had elevated levels of carbon monoxide, Toomey said, adding that the deaths were believed to be accidental.

2024 was the year female desire went mainstream

CNN —While women’s desire is nothing new and certainly not a trend, 2024 has seen the female sex drive take the wheel in popular culture. But the past 12 months have seen explicit examples of female desire rush in simultaneously from the margins to the mainstream. Female desire has existed in little pockets throughout history but now it’s everywhere and not hidden anymore. On Disney+ an adaptation of British romance novelist Jilly Cooper’s book “Rivals” — set in 1980s England — gave female pleasure top billing. Today, psychology and sex therapy are now fields predominantly occupied by women which has dramatically changed how female pleasure is perceived, he said.

One of northern Gaza’s last functioning hospitals, Kamal Adwan in Beit Lahia, is “suffering from a stifling siege,” Gaza's Health Ministry said Friday after Israeli forces stormed inside and removed health workers, patients and family members, as military vehicles surrounded the hospital. Israeli attacks on the hospital over the past few weeks have killed several medics and patients at Kamal Adwan, including the hospital’s ICU director, Dr. Ahmed al-Kahlout.
