CNN —Firefighters are battling two fast-growing wildfires in Southern California Wednesday as the state experiences a “particularly dangerous” fire weather event. “Due to extreme wind conditions, fixed-wing aircraft are unable to assist in firefighting efforts,” VCFD posted. A rare “particularly dangerous situation” red flag warning, the most extreme form of fire weather warning, is also in effect for Southern California into Thursday. More than 11,000 Southern California Edison customers across five counties had power shut off Wednesday morning. A gust of 85 mph was recorded by Wednesday morning on Magic Mountain with gusts over 70 mph in the nearby Transverse Ranges in Southern California, according to the weather service.

Though a golf course had been present since 1999, the development saw it blossom into the undulating 6,755 yard, 18-hole setup that sits as the crown jewel of the resort today. “The uniqueness of the golf course is what really inspires me, and I have been to at least 200 or 250 golf courses around the world. Outrage has followed the release of a video from a Halloween parade in Pennsylvania that seemed to depict Vice President Kamala Harris tied to a golf cart carrying a man wearing a mask of former President Donald Trump. The float moved along a main street in Mount Pleasant, a town of about 4,000 people located 45 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. A video appeared to show a woman dressed as Harris with her hands tied at the Halloween parade Wednesday. The fire department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NBC News or share who did the float belong to. The fire department said on Facebook that it has “traditionally only provided safety & traffic control” during the parade.

This month, Nima became the youngest person to summit all 14 of the world’s highest peaks, but the 18-year-old Nepalese mountaineer is already getting ready for his next big feat. His father, Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, has climbed Everest nine times, and at age 19 became the youngest person to summit without bottled oxygen. His uncle Mingma Sherpa became the first South Asian climber to summit the 14 peaks in 2011. Despite his record-breaking achievement, Nima’s climbs did not attract big-name sponsors, and he relied on his father’s 14 Peaks Expedition company for funds and logistical support. Dawa Yangzum Sherpa became the youngest Nepalese woman to climb the 14 peaks.
