New York CNN —California just raised the minimum wage for the state’s fast food sector workers by $4 to $20. And, although many casual observers disagree, higher wages for fast food workers could actually help fast food owners, Dongoski said. The employment level in fast food restaurants still hasn’t reached pre-pandemic levels. This has nothing to do with minimum wage.”However, the minimum wage increase serves as an accelerant, Brown said. The changes are necessary, said Ghai, who employs 3,700 fast food workers in California.

We’re looking back at the strongest, smartest opinion takes of the week from CNN and other outlets. In a video promoting the Bible, Trump said, “Religion and Christianity are the biggest things missing from this country. … we need to bring them back.”On Good Friday, Trump posted a very different kind of video. It showed an image of President Joe Biden lying sideways and tied up in the bed of a pickup truck. “Robert F. The US just experienced the warmest "meteorological winter" on record, NOAA said last week. It also led to unpredictable consumer demand, causing headaches for retailers and other businesses. For Dick's, warmer weather means that sales skew toward lightweight fleeces rather than pricier down parkas, she said. A retailer in South Dakota surveyed by the Federal Reserve said that even though the warmer weather led to higher foot traffic, sales of winter gear and equipment fell. AdvertisementFrom major complications to minor inconveniences, it's looking like this winter could be a preview of what's to come thanks to the climate crisis.

Victoria's Secret & Co. at the New York Stock Exchange, September 7, 2021. Victoria's Secret shares plunged about 29% premarket on Thursday after the lingerie brand forecast weaker annual sales following a sluggish start to the year as shoppers in its key North America market switch to cheaper options. It expects first-quarter net sales to decline in the mid-single-digit range, compared with analysts' expectation of a 2.5% fall. Victoria's sports bras were priced between $45 and $88, while Lululemon's were between $29 and $78, their websites showed. In 2024, Victoria's Secret plans to open about 15 new stores in North America, mostly in off-mall locations, despite slow demand, and close 35 stores mainly due to consolidation of co-located Victoria's Secret and PINK stores.

Wendy’s will soon begin testing surge pricing
  + stars: | 2024-02-27 | by ( Jordan Valinsky | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +3 min
New York CNN —The price of a Wendy’s Frosty could soon fluctuate throughout the day as the chain looks to introduce Uber-like surge pricing on its menu. The practice, known as “dynamic pricing,” will begin testing in 2025, Wendy’s recently revealed in an earnings call. Surge pricing is common with sports and concert tickets and for ride-hailing apps, with services like Ticketmaster and Uber using sophisticated dynamic pricing algorithms that change minute by minute, based on demand. However, there hasn’t been widespread adoption from restaurants because of the labor it takes employees to change menus. McDonald’s has also dabbled with dynamic pricing and new order-suggestion capabilities at some of its upgraded drive-thrus and on its app.
