MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A forecast that record high temperatures and humidity would create “extreme and dangerous” conditions prompted organizers to cancel two long-distance races Sunday in Minnesota's two largest cities that were expected to draw up to 20,000 runners. The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon from Minneapolis to neighboring St. Paul had been expected to draw up to 8,000 runners when organizers called it off early Sunday. The organizers, Twin Cities in Motion, also canceled a separate 10-mile race drawing 12,000 runners. In an email to race participants early Sunday, race organizers said: “The latest weather forecast update projects record-setting heat conditions that do not allow a safe event for runners, supporters and volunteers.”In the days leading up to Sunday's race, organizers had warned that weather conditions could be unsafe. BRUSSELS, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Edwards Lifesciences (EW.N) was raided by EU antitrust regulators at one of its facilities in an EU country a week ago, two people with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Tuesday. Edwards Lifesciences' shares dipped after the Reuters story, falling 2.5% in pre-market trade. Edwards Lifesciences, which says it is a global leader in making medical products for structural heart disease, did not respond to repeated emailed requests for comment. Companies found guilty of violating EU antitrust rules face fines as much as 10% of their global turnover. According to analysts, Edwards Lifesciences competes with Abbot Laboratories (ABT.N), Medtronic (MDT.N), Zimmer Biomet (ZBH.N) and Boston Scientific Corp (BSX.N), among others.

Amazon hopes consumers will install Alexa-enabled devices in more rooms of their homes and become accustomed to using the system throughout the day, the sources said. Amazon has said its devices and services business is not profitable, without providing figures. Amazon is set to name as successor Microsoft's Panos Panay who oversaw development of the Surface, according to Bloomberg. A recovery in non-urgent procedures and easing staffing shortages following a decline in COVID-19 cases has boosted the demand for medical devices. Sales at Medtronic's heart devices unit, its biggest revenue driver, increased 5.5% to $2.85 billion for the first quarter, above analysts' estimates of $2.78 billion. Revenue for the quarter rose 4.5% to $7.70 billion, topping analysts' average estimate of $7.57 billion. Its adjusted profit of $1.20 per share for the quarter ended July 28 beat estimates of $1.11 per share.
