The creator and marketing company Triller is finally trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker ILLR. The company went public via a reverse merger with a Hong Kong-based company called AGBA. A reverse merger occurs when a private company goes public by acquiring a publicly listed company. That didn't come to fruition, and in December 2021, the company announced plans to complete a reverse merger with a company called Seachange International. Creators, brands, and consumers are the main cohorts that AGBA touts as central to Triller's business in its recent filings.

Mortgage rates are down, but many owners and buyers are waiting for them to fall more. That should help thaw a real-estate market that had frosted over due to elevated mortgage rates. AdvertisementProperty owners are also poised to benefit from lower rates, Xu and her colleagues noted. Many owners are currently locked into the rock-bottom mortgage rates that were common in the late 2010s and early 2020s. "Although mortgage rates have eased, market rates continue to exceed current rates for most homeowners, keeping them locked in 'golden handcuffs,'" said Danielle Hale, Realtor.com's chief economist, in a statement for the report sent to Business Insider.

Fed easing hasn't led to lower mortgage rates, with the 30-year fixed rate actually rising since the first rate cut. Mortgage rates are closely linked to the 10-year US Treasury yield, which have also risen over the period. AdvertisementThe Federal Reserve's jumbo interest-rate cut in mid-September was welcome news to prospective homebuyers, with the expectation that a lower fed funds rate would help push mortgage rates lower. According to data from Mortgage News Daily, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate has jumped about 47 basis points since the Fed rate cut, to 6.62% from 6.15%. Whether that will manifest itself in lower mortgage rates is up in the air.

AI models require enormous data centers that threaten goals to reduce carbon emissions. Schmidt said "we are never going to meet" the goals anyway, suggesting we let AI solve the problem. One thing seems clear: The company is burning through far more cash than it’s bringing in, according to reporting from the New York Times. OpenAI is now worth $157 billion, but it can't rest easy yet. Now comes the hard part: emerging victorious in a fiercely competitive AI industry. Though Sam Altman's company cemented its status as a frontrunner in the generative AI boom this week, securing a new $157 billion valuation after raising $6.6 billion of fresh capital from marquee investors, its leading position is hardly guaranteed. Sure, Altman's company now casts a massive shadow over the industry with its fresh $157 billion valuation. AI companies have been spending huge sums to purchase chips from Jensen Huang's Nvidia.

MIT economist warns AI infrastructure investments may not meet investor profit expectations. Only 5% of jobs are likely to be significantly impacted by AI in the next decade, according to the economist. That's according to MIT Economist Daron Acemoglu, who told Bloomberg in an interview that the hype surrounding AI may not meet its lofty expectations. The most optimistic scenario, according to Acemoglue, is that AI hype cools and some applications of the technology take hold. In such a scenario, investors and tech executives would become disenchanted with AI, leading to a "AI spring followed by AI winter."

The average price/earnings multiple for the group, using 2025 estimates, is 12.7 times versus 20.6 times for the S & P 500. A major knock on the biopharma group is the limited productivity from their extremely expensive research efforts, other than obesity drugs, over the past twenty-five years. The technology using AI might not be ready yet, particularly related to the complex biology of the human body.
