More than 45 million DJT shares were exchanged Tuesday, more than tripling its 30-day average volume. Stock Chart Icon Stock chart icon Trump Media (DJT) Stock PriceThe rally has accelerated since Saturday, when the company's majority owner, Donald Trump, held a presidential campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, at the same site where he was nearly assassinated at a rally on July 13. Musk, the mega-billionaire who owns the social media site X, told the audience that Trump "must win to preserve democracy in America." But the stock price surge also comes despite news about Trump Media that might ordinarily raise concerns about a company's well-being. Neither Trump Media nor Northwall said why he quit, and the company has not announced a successor.

Federal prosecutors on Friday announced criminal charges against three Iranian nationals in connection with a recent hack of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's campaign and other cyberattacks. The charges come amid heightened scrutiny about how foreign actors, especially Iran, China and Russia, are trying to influence the American presidential race between Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. Officials have said that Iran is working to hurt Trump's campaign, while Russia prefers Trump, who has declined to say he wants Ukraine to win its war against invading Kremlin forces. China, meanwhile, has pushed anti-democracy influence operations but has not clearly sided with either the Republican or Democratic tickets, officials have said.

Republican presidential nominee and former U.S. President Donald Trump looks on during a rally at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, in Uniondale, New York, U.S., September 18, 2024. Shares of Trump Media sank more than 7% Friday morning, hitting a new 52-week low one day after "lockup" restrictions expired, which had previously prevented its majority shareholder, former President Donald Trump, and other early investors from selling their shares. The lockup agreement first took effect when Trump Media went public in March, following a merger with a blank-check firm. The company has acknowledged in regulatory filings that the end of the lockup could spur large sales of the company's stock, which trades under the ticker "DJT." The U.S. Secret Service said Friday it was to blame for the near-assassination of former President Donald Trump at a July campaign rally, pointing to "complacency" by some of its agents and communication gaps with local police. "As I've said, this was a failure on the part of the United States Secret Service," said Ronald Rowe, the agency's acting director, at a press conference. The Secret Service was chiefly responsible for crafting the security plan at the presidential campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, where assassin Thomas Crooks was able to open fire at Trump before being shot dead. Line-of-sight issues at the Republican nominee's rally site were known about but not effectively addressed in advance, Rowe went on. Rowe took over the Secret Service after former Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned from the agency on July 23, just 10 days after the assassination attempt.
