The Rams suffered a 19-16 loss to the Bengals in their first regular-season rematch of the Super Bowl after the 2021 season. CINCINNATI (AP) — Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is still day to day with lingering pain from a calf injury, coach Zac Taylor said Thursday. "So giving him some time is best.”Burrow strained his right calf muscle on the second day of on-field workouts in training camp on July 27. Burrow said he “tweaked” the calf injury on the Bengals’ final drive of Sunday's 3-point loss to the Ravens. Just before the start of training camp in 2022, Burrow had an emergency appendectomy. (AP) — The Chiefs and reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes agreed to a restructure of his 10-year, $450 million contract that gives him a substantial boost in pay over the next four seasons, a person familiar with the contract told The Associated Press on Monday. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the contract. That would represent a substantial increase over the salary on his latest deal, which ties him to the Chiefs through the 2031 season. Cabott also said that the two sides were planning to revisit the contract once the next four seasons are played out. Mahomes, a two-time MVP, won his second Super Bowl ring with a comeback win over Philadelphia in February.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow became the highest-paid player in the NFL on Thursday, agreeing to a five-year, $275 million contract extension, according to a person familiar with the deal. The market for quarterbacks was set for Burrow in late July when Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert agreed to a five-year, $262.5 million extension. Herbert’s total value and $52.5 million average per season surpassed the $260 million, five-year extension ($52 million average) that Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson signed in April. Deshaun Watson agreed to a fully guaranteed $230 million deal with Cleveland in 2022. Bengals owner Mike Brown said a year ago that the team had begun restructuring finances in order secure a long-term deal for Burrow.
