The New York attorney general’s office has sued cryptocurrency platform CoinEx, alleging it failed to register as a securities and commodities broker-dealer and misrepresented itself as a crypto exchange. But New York prosecutors said CoinEx isn’t registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or designated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as an exchange, as required by New York state law. The office of New York Attorney General Letitia James said its prosecutors also were able to buy and sell crypto on CoinEx in New York, despite the fact the company isn’t registered in the state. New York law requires securities and commodities brokers to register with the state to do business there. The suit, announced Wednesday, is the latest action by the New York attorney general in policing the crypto sector and using the state’s laws to protect investors.

There are three million shipwrecks scattered across the ocean floor. Only a tiny number of these have been explored. This 117-foot craft had sunk in May 1682 after hitting a sandbank, while carrying the Duke of York, the future King James II of England. But only in June last year was the wreck formally identified—and hailed as the most significant maritime discovery since Henry VIII’s warship the Mary Rose was raised in 1982. Another find is a silver teaspoon, with an engraving that suggests it belonged to one of James’s huntsmen, Thomas Jory, a “saucy fellow” who hid under a seat on a rescue boat as the Gloucester went down.

The report said officers gave repeated commands for the suspect to surrender and special officers worked to figure out his exact location. Based on the teen’s estimated direction of travel, police believe James Thompson was shot first, the report said. Police believe the teen shot Marcille Lynn Gardner, who was found wounded in the driveway, then fired at Nicole Connors, 52, who lived in the house.
