Boot Barn — The retailer was downgraded to neutral from outperform by Baird, which cited concerns over macroeconomic risks for the sector. Boot Barn shed 2.5% during premarket trading. The stock, however, was down more than 1% in premarket trading.
Matthew McConaughey and Will.i.am have taken part in corporate strategy discussions at Salesforce, the FT reported. The FT reported, citing a source familiar with the matter, that actor McConaughey and musician and producer Will.i.am are often included in business conversations. McConaughey, meanwhile, has been heavily involved in Salesforce's advertising in recent years, including appearing in its 2022 Super Bowl commercial. According to a different source cited by the FT, McConaughey and Will.i.am are only involved in informal conversations in the business, not meetings around corporate strategy. Salesforce did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider about Will.i.am and McConaughey's apparent involvement in corporate discussions.

The cloud software giant is now being targeted by activist firm Elliott Management, which has taken a big stake in the company. Walravens says that the activist firms could encourage Salesforce to rethink its office strategy. Global Payments – Shares rose 3.2% after Morgan Stanley upgraded the company to buy, saying that the upcoming environment will favor incumbents and help shares gain. Citizens Financial Group — The bank stock slipped 2.3% despite posting solid quarterly that met Wall Street's expectations.

Cloud-security business Lacework Inc. on Thursday named a finance chief with public-company experience as the startup lays the groundwork for an eventual initial public offering. He has also held senior finance roles at technology companies ServiceNow Inc. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. At Lacework, Mr. Casey succeeds Mike Staiger, who stepped down in June. Lacework has ample cash from last year’s fundraising round and likely won’t need more capital for at least a couple of years, Mr. Casey said. Expanding selection has made DoorDash resilient as restaurant-delivery growth declines and recession worries grip consumers, analysts say. "DoorDash's greater selection, convenience, and value are proving resilient," Andrew Boone, a JMP Securities analyst, said in a note earlier this year. Last month, DoorDash surpassed 75,000 retail stores on its platform, up from 40,000 a year ago. DoorDash opened the first DashMart in 2020, and the convenience stores have grown to 25 locations in cities in the US and Canada. Amazon shares plunged more than 8% on Friday, a day after the company projected sales in the holiday quarter would be far below expectations. Amazon shares pared back some losses from earlier Friday morning, when the stock was off about 50% from its highs, resulting in about a $940.8 billion hit to Amazon's value. Revenue in the third quarter came in at $127.10 billion, up 15% year over year, but slightly softer than Wall Street's expected $127.46 billion.
