The S & P 500 could rally nearly 23% into 2025 if the Republicans sweep the election, according to Jay Hatfield, founder & CIO of InfraCap. Specifically, Hatfield said he sees the broad market index climbing to 7,000 next year. The odds of that scenario grew overnight, as former President Donald Trump took the lead in the U.S. presidential race over Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite the current electoral backdrop, Hatfield cautioned he's not as confident as the market is about Trump regaining the presidency. "It seems like the odds might be a little bit ahead of the data so far," he told CNBC.

Meta extended its ban on new political ads on Facebook and Instagram past Election Day in the U.S. The social media giant announced the political ads policy update on Monday, extending its ban on new political ads past Tuesday, the original end date for the restriction period. The company announced in August that any political ads that ran at least once before Oct. 29 would still be allowed to run on Meta's services in the final week before Election Day. Other political ads will not be allowed to run. Those advertisers will be allowed to make scheduling, budgeting and bidding-related changes to their political ads, Meta said.

CNN —Ahead of potential civil unrest due to Tuesday’s presidential election, the National Guard is on standby as a precaution in several states, including Washington state and Oregon, where hundreds of ballots were damaged or destroyed after at least three ballot drop boxes were recently set on fire, officials say. Tina Kotek said in a statement Friday the National Guard is standing ready as political leaders call for peaceful protests, according to CNN affiliate KTVZ. In recent years, the National Guard has been activated in several states to assist largely with cyber security threats during elections. The Infinite Monkey Theorem hypothesizes that, given a typewriter and an infinite amount of time, a monkey could in theory produce the full works of William Shakespeare. According to Open Source Shakespeare, a web page containing all of the bard’s plays, poems and sonnets, there are 884,421 words in the entire works of Shakespeare. While the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust says the writer introduced more than 1,700 words into the English language, "banana" was not one of them. Other academics were less incredulous, suggesting that the paper was a wild goose chase — a phrase itself invented by Shakespeare. It may be time for the theorem to exit popular usage — pursued, unsuccessfully, by a monkey.

CNN —Talented though they may be, monkeys will never type out the complete works of William Shakespeare, or even a short book, a new study suggests. The Infinite Monkey Theorem is a famous thought experiment that states that a monkey pressing random keys on a typewriter would eventually reproduce the works of the Bard if given an infinite amount of time and/or if there were an infinite number of monkeys. However, in the study published in the peer-reviewed journal Franklin Open, two mathematicians from Australia’s University of Technology Sydney have rejected this theorem as “misleading” within the confines of our finite universe. They challenged it by looking at the Finite Monkeys Theorem, in which there is a finite amount of time and a finite number of monkeys. “By the time you’re at the scale of a full book, you’re billions of billions of times less likely,” he continued.

Investigators have not identified the suspect, Portland Police Chief Bob Day said Wednesday, but police have released a physical description and other information. The Portland Police Bureau has released photos of the suspected vehicle connected to the ballot box fire in Southeast Portland early Monday morning. An “incendiary device” found attached to the side of a ballot drop box in Portland, early Monday damaged ballots, but most were unaffected because of fire suppressant installed in the ballot box. Another fire was set at a ballot box in Vancouver, Washington, the same day. Investigators have also linked the two most recent incidents to a third ballot box fire on October 8, also in Vancouver.

WASHINGTON — A Hollywood actor who had supporting roles in "Anchorman," "Mr. Show," "Arrested Development" and "Bob's Burgers" was sentenced to 12 months and a day in federal prison on Monday for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Jay Johnston at the Capitol on Jan. 6. In messages ahead of the attack, Johnston wrote to an acquaintance to "Bring food and a toilet" to what he referred to as "the gala affair" on Jan. 6, prosecutors said. Johnston attended another rally featuring conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and others on the night before the Capitol attack and then filmed himself passing "AREA CLOSED" signs on Jan. 6, prosecutors wrote. More than 1,500 people have been arrested in connection with the Capitol attack, and federal prosecutors have secured the convictions of over 1,100 defendants so far.
