Cboe declined to say whether those relations happened while Tilly was CEO or prior to his tenure at the helm. His resignation is the latest in a string of high-profile exits by CEOs whose personal conduct ran afoul of company policy. "When he became CEO, he grew that business from a little options exchange to a global, fintech and exchange leader. Cboe has exclusive rights to list flagship contracts linked to the Standard & Poor’s 500 stock index through 2032. "The silver lining is it doesn't look like it is related to strategic or financial issue for the company," Lau said of the CEO resignation.

Data on Monday showed U.S. homebuilder confidence fell for a second month in September, with optimism dropping to the lowest since April as high interest rates cut into affordability for prospective buyers. Fed fund futures show investors expect the Federal Reserve to keep interest rates on hold in the 5.25% to 5.5% range on Wednesday. The European Central Bank raised interest rates to 4% last week, but said this hike could be its last. Traders think Sweden's central bank is highly likely to raise interest rates on Thursday by 25 basis points to 4%, piling more pressure on the economy. The yen was up about 0.15% against the dollar at 147.62 to the dollar, with traders out for a Japanese public holiday.

Nasdaq plans to list options on Arm Holdings across all six of its exchanges, a spokesperson for the exchange said on Friday. Other options exchange operators, Cboe Global Markets (CBOE.Z) and Intercontinental Exchange's (ICE.N) New York Stock Exchange, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on their own plans to list ARM options. "I have every reason to believe that when ARM options are listed they will be very popular," Steve Sosnick, chief strategist at Interactive Brokers, said. Arm Holdings is of significant interest to retail investors, Dan Raju, chief executive at online brokerage firm Tradier, said. I expect the listing of options to also see an initial surge in options activity followed by a tapering," he said.

Miami-based ETF sponsor Defiance ETFs LLC launched the Defiance Nasdaq-100 Enhanced Option Income ETF on Thursday, the first ETF to use daily options income generation, the ETF sponsor said in a press release. The ETF seeks to tap into the dual popularity of short-dated options contracts and the heightened interest in ETFs that seek to generate income through a combination of selling options and investing in U.S. large cap stocks. Investors have also flocked to ETFs that look to generate income and reduce portfolio volatility by selling options against stocks. One such ETF - the JPMorgan Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPI.P) - has grown its assets to about $29.5 billion from about $12.4 billion a year ago. Tens of millions of dollars have poured back into Pakistan's interbank and openmarkets, dealers say, since raids on black market operators began on Sept. 6. Ninety percent were going to black market dealers, cutting our supply of foreign exchange," Bostan explained. While a crackdown on the black market was needed to stabilise the rupee, it "is a temporary fix," said Fahad Rauf, Head of Research at Ismail Iqbal Securities. High inflation and chronic external deficits lie at the heart of the currency's problem, and closing off people's access to black market dollars risks storing up pent-up demand. "There is an unprecedented demand for the dollar," Hanifullah Mohmand, a trader in the Peshawar market, said.

Signs that the dollar will continue enjoying its yield-advantage over other currencies have undercut support for bearish views on the greenback. That theme will be tested in September, as the market braces for a flood of key U.S. economic data as well as the Fed's monetary policy meeting. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell's message at next week's monetary policy meeting could also influence the dollar's trajectory. While Englander is bearish the dollar in the medium term, the currency's "underlying drivers have been going so much in the opposite direction," he said. Other dollar rebounds this year, in March and May, failed at levels not far from where the dollar index trades now.

A deteriorating global growth picture sent the pound to a 12-week low against the dollar after a survey showed business activity in Britain contracted last month.

"But the reaction to them was pretty muted overall, suggesting the Jackson Hole symposium is the main thing on the markets' mind," he said. Elsewhere, the Turkish lira rallied to a 2-month high against the dollar, up about 6% to 25.55 against the dollar after the Turkish central bank hiked the 1-week repo from 17.5% to a much-higher-than expected 25%. According to the median estimate in a Reuters poll, economists were expecting the policy rate to increase to 20%. Turkey's central bank embarked on a tightening cycle in June after President Tayyip Erdogan appointed former Wall Street banker Hafize Gaye Erkan as governor. REUTERS/Robert Galbraith/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Aug 23 (Reuters) - Bullish investors are hoping Wednesday's earnings report from chip heavyweight Nvidia (NVDA.O) can rejuvenate a U.S. stocks rally that has stumbled in recent weeks. The market's turbulence is intensifying focus on Nvidia's fiscal second quarter report, due after market close on Wednesday. Following that report, the S&P 500 technology sector (.SPLRCT) rallied 8% over the next five days. Signs that the central bank intends to hold rates around current levels for longer than investors had anticipated could further weigh on stocks. In a Monday note, Goldman analysts said an equal-weighted basket of those 11 stocks had returned 69% so far in 2023, outpacing a 7% gain for the overall equal-weight S&P 500.

Data from JPMorgan illustrate how quickly sentiment can turn among individual investors, who have been among the key drivers of moves in meme stocks. Retail investors sold a net $852 million in single stocks in the past week. The Roundhill MEME ETF (MEME.P), which tracks the performance of a basket of meme stocks, is down about 55% from where it started trading in December 2021, though up about 38% for the year. A quick rise, often followed by a rapid descent, is a fate common to meme stocks of both the past and present.

But a key factor behind the yen's weakness is unchanged, namely the yawning yield gap with the United States. Yet currency traders remain nervous about provoking intervention, as the yen entered the same zone that triggered heavy dollar selling by Japanese authorities in September and October of last year. For now, traders are testing the waters by selling the yen against sterling and the Swiss franc, mindful that selling against the dollar could gather momentum quickly. From a purely macroeconomic perspective, Kichikawa said, officials have no imperative to prevent yen weakness before 150, which is consistent with the mild inflationary pressure that the BOJ aims to foster. The bond market, which precipitated the yen's slide, may ultimately give Japan's authorities reason to hold off on pressing the intervention button.
